Item details

(From NexyUSA.com)

Calix II is the second in the Nexy Calix line of blades. Calix II is a half step fast faster than Calix, slightly thicker (but still thin at 5.4 mm) with a more pronounced modern composite blade feel and performance. Calix II is a blade for offensive players who desire a blade with excellent allround control for offensive strokes. The Calix II has "dual Impact" as part of its blade design which gives the blade a lower gear on slower shots, then a boost in fast impact shots. The top end of Calix II is around the middle low end of the OFF range. Calix II is a looper's blade for a flexible offensive player. Two offensive situations the Calix II excels are in opening topspin shots and those well struck "Bang Impact" shots where the Calix II will embrace the ball and sent it out with nice speed and loaded with spin.

• Head Size - 157x151mm
• Thickness - 5.4mm
• Layers - 5 Wood + 2 Carbon (with burned core wood)

The Calix II is my most balanced blade. It does everything very well and I always do best with it in matches. My C2 is only 78 grams and it is very fast and easy to maneuver. Great for countering and looping. Tons of control and good "flex". Hard to believe such a thin blade has this much power. I play RPB and mostly close to the table. Pairs well with medium hard and hard rubbers like mxp or rasant powergrip. The blade has a pronounced dual speed which allows for good control close to the net and a crisp powerful return on powerful shots. It has good feel and is not bouncy at all.

  • Almost OFF top E
If you want a blade that can really spin it up, has a couple gears, and has barely enough power to finish points outright, then this is the blade for you. Top end is just short of the mid OFF range, but many nexy blades have more than one gear and it is difficult to assign one speed to them. This blade has moderate "Dual Impact" effect. After I performed my now famous mod (remove handle and add glue/nail) this was by far the best blade I ever operated. Spin is massive, control is better than most OFF- to OFF class blades and the top end is enough, not exciting, but enough. We would REALLY love to have the same properties to the same degree and have a top end a half step faster, but we cant have everything, can we? If Nexy made this faster, it would have to give up something (usually some spin and a little control) so if you want OFF+ speed in a thin carbon blade and want to leave a vapor trail as the ball blasts THROUGH your opponent, go get the Qabod (3rd in Calix Line) don't expect this property out of Calix II. This blade is for a controlled looper who seeks to put away the ball after a spin setup.
