How to empower your backhand in modern table tennis

Slow motion demo: How to empower your backhand in modern table tennis era. Demonstration by Hong Kong Elite Player

  1. You practice a lot of forehand loop with footwork, every thought of practising backhand loop with footwork?
  2. Bend the waist a bit, bend the legs a bit(just a bit compared with hitting backspin)
  3. Direction more forward instead of upward
  4. Use shuffle step to move to the left
  5. Before hitting the ball, legs should be already firm on the ground at the same time, hand/gesture should be in ready position
  6. Practice from right to left is enough (assuming right-hander)
  7. This practice can enhance the aggressiveness of your backhand attack in modern table tennis era.
  8. Practice from right to left is enough (assuming right-hander)
  9. Attitude changes your technique, practice and use it in games

Great video! Very detailed! When I was in China I saw Fan Zhendong doing a lot of footwork drills with his backhand. He did a lot of practice flicking one backhand from the forehand corner, then backhand topspin from the backhand corner. Amazing footwork!
