What an incredible event this is going to be! The top 5 seeds in the men's singles are the current top 5 best players in the world, taken from the recent 2015 October ITTF World Ranking List! Will in form Ma Long, the recent winner at the Men's World Cup maintain momentum and win the event? Ma Long has not lost a single set since the round of 16 at the World Cup in Sweden. Fan Zhendong reached the final in good form, perhaps the number 3 seed will go all the way this time around. Xu Xin will be looking to get into the limelight. Grand Slam champion Zhang Jike will be determined to make a good comeback from his recent shoulder injury. Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcahrov defeated Jun Mizutani at the World Cup to claim the Bronze Title. Dima will certainly give his all to take out the big guns. A fantastic event to follow, be sure to get involved on the TTD discussions and join us in the live chat in the ITTF Live Streaming!

We can use this thread as a means to display all the latest results, videos and news from this spectacular World Tour event! What are your predictions from each event.

I believe Zhang Jike could win, but i think it's a low chance due to his poor performances recently.
My favorite player is indeed Zhang Jike. Ma Long will probably win.

Yeah. He's an upcoming youngster named Qiu Dang.
He plays a jpen blade but using it more like cpen and also plays RPB with that huge blade... :)

This looks like a very very promising tournament!
So many matches to look for!
But in general I guess this is all about Ma Long´s motivation.. He just won the World Cup, if he doesnt feel like winning, he can let some matches go.. Maybe he will lose to some chinese colleague, if he will not be willing to use his A tactics for the match. Still - very excited to have this full tournament (meaning full of great players)!

I really like the way Jon Persson is looping the chops of Yuto Muramatsu. Granted, he's 2-3 down now, but the movement of his body is smooth and effortless and the ball travels very quickly and is low. A joy to watch, IMHO :)

EDIT: Persson turned it around! That's a great win for him. IMHO, he's been improving in leaps and bounds lately. Since he came back from 3-4 more or less wasted years with a serious knee injury, he's made great and steady progress. :)

Great win for Jon Persson, but probably an even better one for Mattias Karlsson who beat Yan An 4-3 to move into the last 32. It's a similar story with Karlsson as with Persson because he has also improved a lot since returning after breaking his foot last year. Going from strength to strength, his backhand has become even more solid and powerful and he has transformed his shortpips forehand into a real weapon now. It's good to see a different style shaking up the order now and then :)

That's a good win for Fegerl. He's been good since the Euros.

Apparently, excessive World Cup victory celebration is the cause of Ma Long's neck injury:

"I talked with Chinese players and interestingly, it turns out that Ma Long suffered the injury ... celebrating the victory in Sweden. He lay down with joy on the floor and violently twisted his neck" - said Wang Zeng Yi from China, who is a long time member of the Polish squad."

Again. Looking forward to Wong Chun Ting vs Xu Xin.

It was a really fun match to watch, so many goofy shots from Xu Xin. One in the last game where a outside around the net shot was received from WCT who went on to win the point. It was just ridiculous and you can just see Xu Xin before serving thinking about and then setting up this shot, it was totally goofy stuff. I seriously think he has totally worked out WCT's game though, I guess there just aren't too many penholders out there and WCT just met someone who is so much stronger in this style of play.

Killerspintt
10-25-2015, 03:50 PM
I don't think he has elbow issue, I found him pretty powerfull, more than usual. He lost this match because of his serves returns (which were terrible) and his global inconsistency on BH side. Fegerl played well, he was not dominated on the BH-BH rallies and his serves won him a ton of points. Almost all Fegerl serves were on ZJK FH side and since ZJK doesnt want to use FH for serves returns...despite many many many mistakes on his BH flick, Fegerl just had to capitalize on ZJK BH flicks inconsistency).

Bh flick seems to be less and less "dominant" these past months (at pro level).

+1 I felt the same way, I am reasonably convinced that there were a few serves which were hidden (ball coming too close into his body after toss). Still I wouldn't like to take anything away from his performance. He totally earned the respect of everyone and deserves it.

Come on, at that level nearly everybody hide their serves in one way or another. It is a disaster. Mizutani is one of the few exceptions.

Great thing happened today. Crowd was screaming Stefan jiaio. Anyway last few points by FZD was absolutely exceptional.

Interesting results. Props to Fegerl. That is a darn good performance. Unfortunately, now the CNT coaching staff are going to analyze a bunch of footage of Fegerl to figure out tactics to break his game down.

That is as big a threat as Chinese top players have faced in years. It is different than one top CNT player having a bad match. 2 top CNT players struggling against the same European player not named Timo Boll or Michael Maze hasn't happened since....well....since those two guys were at the top of their game. Which seems like a pretty long time to me.

ZJK lost the game because of his injury .. It was clear that he had sore in his right arm , but what about healthy FZD ?? Stefan put him in a bad trouble . it shows there aren't so much difference between injures ZJK and healthy FZD ...but Fegerl was fantastic indeed

lol what is this logic ? You will conclude also that Fegerl is better than Xu Xin since Xu Xin lost 4-2 to FZD ?
Please.....
ZJK didn't lost because of an injury, he lost because he was inconsistent on his BH, making tons of errors with in serves returns. He also lost because Fegerl had insane backahnd block today. Same for FZD, he had very hard time dealing with Fegerl's serves and insane blocks.

Of course, once all his serves will be 200% analyzed, Fegerl will face much more difficulties, but it doesn't change the fact that his BH block is absolutely insane and he is showing a path for euro players : practice your block, you won't win against chinese by counter-looping.

:)Well I Did'nt say Fegerl was better than any one in my post . I meant the injury effected zjk's game and he had problem in returning fegerl's serve ... wrote sth strange?!?!?!!? I just wanted to say even FZD in good form had problem vs stefan .

The Chinese National Team are really close with the Austrian Team. Every time they arrive at Europe, they might go to WSA to keep their form. The head coach of Austrian team is Qian Qianli who was a Chinese national team member. Fegerl's wife is Li Qiangbing, daughter of famous Chinese National coach Li Xiadong. So I think they know each other quite well. Li Xiadong said in an interview how he gave advice to Fegerl in switching to poly balls.

just watched part of fegerl's matches against zjk and fzd.
I think he's not a specially gifted.

he just has a combination of
-good anticipation
-being tall (this gives him good reach without having to move much)
-good fh power mostly because of being tall and thin

I don't see him as a threat to the chinese top players.

My opinion from arena today - i felt the atmosohere when people dont know for which player to cheer. In fegerl vs jike everybody thout fegerl in final would be easy match for fzd or xu xin, but he is european.. :D
Second. I was dissapointed xu xin vs fan. Ihave seen much better matches than this it was quite boring. Also ding ning injury also very dissapoited.
Third. Fegerl vs fan was amazing. And mostly not because how they play but the audience!!! It was so cool to shout with other polish people stefan name versus chineese people supporting fan. Just amazing atmosphere.
Sorry for mistakes. Going back to my home country by bus.. :D

Fan ZD reached the final of World Cup, but how come the other top players didn't reach the finalist in this tour? I didn't know about this tour, and if i knew about it earlier i would vote for Ma Long as usual or FZD, but to see that FZD won it and ZJK with Xu Xin lost their semi finals putting questions about other names such as ML or Ovtch or Jun Mizutani, did they withdraw from this tour? Or didn't they play well or didn't care about this tour?

Yes, Why they played with DHS balls? this is what i saw in the finals, also why Andro table?

If you wouldn't mind to asnwer, then what was the rules or conditions for those players to be qualified? i didn't see some other players such as Greek Gionis and Korean Joo SH?

Dhs and andro because they are sponsors maybe. Actually in most recent competitions i see using dhs balls.
Everyone can play in tournament. Just pay 150 euros and you will have right to play atleast 2 matches. Gionis got groin injury at world cup i think. Joo sh hard to see him lately, dont know why.

Bh flick seems to be less and less "dominant" these past months (at pro level).

This might be right for the semi-final between ZJK and Fegerl, but i've got to disagree on the second semi-final. FZD scored so many direct points against XX with his down-the-line backhand flip.

At this level I don't think a few hidden serves will make a difference.

Does anyone have any idea why Xu Xin appeared to be more pressured than previous encounters with FZD? Just from his body gestures and the way he dealt with losing some points, e.g. when he put both of his hands down on the ground twice in the whole match, he appeared to be more tense than before, almost like there is some additional factors putting pressure on him to do well apart the normal playing well in a match.

I think it is because he missed a lot of quite obvious points for him. Most of time he took first initative in action or were close to take over but finally he missed a shot.

What happened to Xu Xin and ZJK? Both are not so great playing this year, i will not talk about last year, but since i started to watch table tennis games this year even some past games but i noticed that Ma Long improved this year and won more big titles and Xu Xin didn't win or even didn't see in most finals, i even don't remember his titles this year until i go and search in goole, same with ZJK, i thought when ML has gone in this tour because of his injury then it will be the chance for Xu Xin or ZJK, but only FZD was in form and won, so are those chinese players most are injured?
