J-O Waldner playing his first fun tournament after his retirement, losing against Ovtcharov. Werner Schlager records a close win against Ovtcharov in the semi-finals and beating Chen Weixing later in the finals. Schlager still with a great serve :)

I've read in another forum that Ovtcharov didn't play with his own racket but, as this was a DONIC "fun" tournament, he was compelled to play with DONIC gear. According to that he even switched back and forehand multiple times during the matches.

I can't verifiy that (maybe some equipment experts?) but even if it is true, it is still a big win by Schlager I think :)

I wonder with what Dima was playing, though.
In the vid against Schlager he was using a red rubber on fh clearly visible.
I've read somewhere that he uses different rubbers when he plays in the big tournaments and on Show-events uses something like Bluefire.
But of course Schlager played really good.
:)

Thanks, xylit.
Somehow your answer is now placed above my question. Don't know how that could happen.

Nevertheless, thanks.

BTW: i like many of your comments on mytischtennis.de
Keep it up.

schlager was always very irregular. After he won world championships many players beat him. There was a rumor who else can beat world champion. Still he is the best server ever appeared. His whole game is based on his serves. His footwork is very poor but using his serves he can still play top level.
Anyway watching final, his bachand topspins agains Chen backspins were amazing.

Any screen shots? I can imagine this is true
