I have actually been quite surprised that nobody has posted information on these Olympic Qualification Tournaments that started at the beginning of April.

A friend from NYC posted information on these events on April 1 right before they kicked off:

This following are excerpts from the email he sent out to a NYC TT Email list April 1st.

April is the month of Olympic Qualifications.

and then one day later, on the 13th, the asians will have their qualifier in HK. should be interesting--all the top asian players will be there. go here for all the info: http://www.ittf.com/competitions/competitions2.asp?Competition_ID=2633&category=OG

i'm not a 100% sure, but i think all the qualifiers will be streamed live on the ITTF youtube channel, here:

https://www.youtube.com/user/ittfchannel/featured

it's possible the euro qualifier will be on ETTU TV, here: http://www.laola1.tv/en-int/channel/ettu

NYC-TTGuy wanted me to add one more piece of information here.

that the Canadian/North American no. 1, Eugene Wang, will play. he plays in the French league for the Jura Morez club alongside the Nigerian/African no. 1, Quadri Aruna. I bring it up because those who follow him in the French league might want to see if he manages to qualify for the Canadian Olympic team.

A bit off topic , I just saw Eugene Wang play Marcos Freitas in the french league, and looks like Wang is in top form !

I'll interpret that as on topic. If he is on form in the French league, he will probably do well in the Olympic Qualification event. [emoji2]

He has to be the odds on favorite to place first in the North American Men's Event.

My friend who wants to remain in the background has asked me to be his ghostwriter and now has more to add to the discussion.

....Eugene Wang... you might mention that the penholder from Atlanta, Feng Yijun, took out Wang's French club teammate, Quadri Aruna, in the final at the North American Teams last November. Feng will be up in Canada tomorrow playing for the American side. maybe he might give Wang a good game if they play each other. who knows?

I have followed Feng's game in the Nationals . He is really good when he is on. But I don't think he has the serve receive / defensive qualities that Eugine has.
