This is from my friend who I will title OCDGhostCarl:

for those of you who are following this, the women's quarterfinals are underway, but the livestream hasn't started up yet. i just found out that they changed the start time and that it won't start until the women's semifinals, which will be at around 2:30 this afternoon.

as for the matches on now, lily zhang is on table 1 vs. liu yi of canada and wang chen is on table 2 vs. fellow american crystal wang. lily looks to be on pace for an easy win, but, on the other hand (and table), crystal wang is in a dogfight with wang chen.

A big thanks to Dan the man for adding a few key details from behind the scenes. A big thanks to OCDGhostCarl for always being up to date on all the information around the world.

He always knows when any league or tournament is going on. I am actually not sure if he sleeps because he watches everything, and not the excerpts. He is a guy who saw Wang Liqin play live before WL had broken into the top 100 and said to himself, "Wow, this guy is going to be the next big thing!"

First day for men's is irrelevant almost, it's like warmup day, Eugene winning was almost a given he's a head and shoulders above the rest.

Second day will be interesting. Women's the results were pretty intruiging. Crystal beating Wang Chen was a big result and also the match between Jiaqi and Mo was tighter than anything!

Maybe I haven't seen him in too long but I am surprised by Alguetti. I met that kid when he could barely reach the table and he was about 2000 back then, about 5 years ago. It is cool that he has gotten that good. I actually played Adar Alguetti in one of the tournaments I was in. He was too good for me. Now he really is. :)

Indeed. And Eugene beat EVERYBODY at 4-0. Hahaha. Well, it looks like he booked his seat in Rio.
