Initial thoughts

The STIGA Genesis is amazing!! The spin is huge, it is very, very spinny at 2.0mm! I have found the rubber produces high spin and long trajectory. The spin rivals modern and the latest ESN rubbers.

Full review coming soon.

Yogi, do you think Genesis would be a good alternative to Tenergies for backhand?

M version is closer to your H3 than to Tenergy, so probably no.

I've been using the Genesis M rubbers on both sides now for a couple of weeks on my Stiga hybrid wood blade. I have found them really good, as mentioned before by others they have a tremendous amount of spin and grip compared to even tenergy. The M version is certainly harder than the tenergy serious so perhaps the S version would suit most players. In my opinion definitely a rubber which can challenge most modern fast attacking rubbers!

This is promising for sure. Would you say Genesis has similar spin to Tenergy?

I would say to be honest it has even more because the topsheet is a little more grippy.

I'm also happy with Genesis and made a short review in centre. I agree with Tom super grippy topsheet :D Have you tried the S version yet Gezim?

Hi

I have tried S for no more than 30 minutes and i can't tell anything yet. It was a very busy month for me ( lot of hard work at the office) and i believe starting from next week I will have more time to play.

For someone considering new Stiga rubbers, but who is more used to the Tibhar Evolution type, would it be wiser to wait for reviews on the Mantra before deciding? Are they more likely to be a closer match?

By the sounds of talk elsewhere the Mantra will be similar to Airoc based rubbers. The Genesis has similar spin to Evolution but with a different feeling more like a Chinese feeling by the sounds of it being made by a Chinese brand. Genesis is a harder rubber than evolution type rubbers. We will have to wait patiently for more reviews

Is the Mantra rubber out yet?

Anyone buy this recently from a TT11 alternative? They are sold out. I'm talking a fair price, not teesport for 49.99 gbp though.

So.. Once you finally end up with rubbers you like on your blade, Stiga has to invent new one's? No fair. :(

What are you talking about? All blades are made in Sweden and the STIGA R&D department are at their HQ in Sweden as well.

I'm saying that china is a big part of stiga's blade and rubber development. The chinese national team is their R&D lately. I know they don't make the products yet ("Genesis").

Anyone else playing with Genesis M or S now? How does they play compared to the Donic Blufire series for example?

These are EXCELLENT rubbers! I have played both 2,2mm and 2,0 M on FH and 2,0 S on BH with two different ALL+ blades and I like them a lot. The M rubber is harder than any other rubber I have played with. The rubbers are VERY tacky and in my experience generate A LOT of spin - totally comparable to T05 which I have also played with. I prefer Genesis over T05, because of the T05 springe sponge, which just isn't my cup of tea... somehow too 'unpredictable' speed wise. Genesis also wins compared to Tibhar Evolution series, which I have also played with a lot, including the new EL-S and FX-S. Highly recommended and don't be afraid to get the 2,2mm M version!

I guess mine is one off incident as told by Stiga. No booster or abuse if you ask me, with 2 hours of play max.

I received my Genesis M 2.2 rubbers from Dandoy and their uncut weights are different.
The sheet sizes are identical

Red weighs 68gm
Black weighs 73gm

The print on the sponge for the red rubber has wider text than the sponge on the black.

Is this normal?

The rubbers do fluctuate. This is probably two sheets on either extreme and unfortunately, you received one of each (one heavy, one light).

That's a quality control issue. If these were Hurricane 3, they would be labelled export commercial quality. With H3 Provincial, there is much better precision with hardness, thickness, and weight.

This looks to me like on of the first tensor Chinese style rubbers. Other than this I know of Palio Thors and Yasaka but that's it. So the obvious question, how does this compare to Hurricane III provincial (the M version)? it's going to be similar price and probably similar hardness, so does the tensor next gen factor in it being better?

I have to be honest with you guys, I hit with Genesis II yesterday on a Clipper. It was at the goon squad mission in NYC on Saturday October 1st.

It did not feel quite like a tensor. It definitely did not feel like Chinese rubber. It felt like not so fast Euro rubber. It was decent. It wasn't great. It wasn't bad. If I was going to use one word to describe it I would say: "plain" or "vanilla"! It felt like it might be a decent rubber for someone who did not want as much pop as a good tensor or someone who did not want to need the precision you would need for H3. So, decent for developing technique.

But nothing about if felt like a Chinese rubber to me. I did not find the topsheet to actually be tacky. Not sure what to call a topsheet like MX-P's but I wouldn't call that tacky: it simply grips well. And this topsheet seemed to me like it was more similar to that than too a tacky Chinese rubber. Did not hit with it long enough to really put it through its paces. Did not do the ball stick tacky rubber test. But those were my thoughts from hitting with it for 5 min.

How are your rubbers holding up? I have used my Genesis for a long time now and they are holding up surprisingly good. For me only Tenergy and Genesis got this kind of durability. Anyone else noticed this or is it just me who is hitting the ball to soft?

i will show the whole surface after it`s glued on blade .... but the blade is in progress of creation . i thinking next week.
For the booster i will use classic baby oil (last the longest period of time) and i will apply two layers and after i will see how it reacts then i decide if the third layer is necessary.
And yes now when you mention it , also the topsheet is more like tenergy then Chinese or other euro topsheets.
