I think Ma Long losing in the China open is being blown out of proportion slightly. He lost partly because Fan was very motivated as he had a huge point to prove and partly because Ma Long was tired and emotionally drained from his Olympic win. I still see Ma Long as the superior player and the next 4 years to be both the Ma Long and Fan Zhengdong era.

Remember, there is a age gap
once the CNT players turn 30, they are no longer the same
From 5, 20 years old is 15 years training
25 years old is 20 years training - the peak in CNT level
come 30 years old, it is 25 years training - this is where the body starts slowing down.

Injuries, "tired" etc will all start to surface in the next 3 to 4 years for the 27 years olds

XX has this crucial moment to peak and FZD is just gifted to fit the shoe.
ZJK will become number 4, with XX/FZD/ML filling in the first 3 positions
Next 2 years will be interesting to see what happens
