Hi ttd, in Sweden last year I took photos of Tomokazu Harimoto's bat. He is using a modified Zhang ALC blade and no boost.

Harimoto uses Tenergy 64 on the forehand and Tenergy 05 FX on the backhand.

You can kinda tell whether a rubber is boosted or not in close up by looking at the pips and how well they shine through the rubber, or if the rubber "curves" away at the edge of the blade. On top of that you can just do the smell test. If it looks like boosted and smells like boosted, it's conclusive to assume it actually is boosted.

Figuring out the plies of a blade by looking at 3 pixels resembling the handle is wizardry in my book, so idk about that.

He was using Fukuhara ZLF with Zhang grip at Japanese Nationals this year(Jan).

outer ply looks like limba so you might be right, but that sounds pretty slow equipment.

I can't see the composite layer where one would be expected to see it from that picture angle (based on the ZJK-ALC I am looking at right now). Not sure what it is but it's not that. If only it came with a magic transmitter that would make him shut up.
