Nittaku Hammond Pro Beta - alternatives?

A backhand favorite for many. Top of the line control, not too sensitive to incoming spin, automatic blocking, still not slow and good offensive capabilities.

I heard however that it has problems gripping the new plastic ball. Can anyone confirm this?

If it's true, can you guys come up with alternatives that don't suffer the same problem?

PS: I heard Wang Liqin used it a couple of years back. Does anyone know what he uses currently on his backhand?

Personally I have always trying to find a Hammond beta pro. It's fairly expensive so I have been waiting for a second hand rubber.

But I have used Nittaku FastArc C1 on my BH playing plastic ball. It's light yet quite fast. Low arc. Medium sensitivity to incoming spin = great control + good blocking.

Powerful spin if you put in some effort. Quite easy to lift backspin.

Powerful enough for long distance rally.

Although I can't compare it to Hammond Beta pro but I would say FastArc C1 is a great BH rubber for plastic ball.

Thanks, I will look into that rubber! tabletennis11.com has HBPs for what I think is a reasonable price, but you probably did know that! =)
