Who are the top seeds entering into the competition. With Timo possibly being injured I wouldn't know who to pick as the winner.

Hi Dan. No, I'm not going to the Europeans, but there will be a VQ stall at the event. I'm sure it will be amazing, but I've got my commitments at home ;-)

Not sure when the draw is going to be made for the singles event (and can't see any information). The draw for the team event is here (http://www.tabletennis2011.pl./117,all_team_draws) and the TV schedule here (http://www.tabletennis2011.pl/images/editorpictures/TV_OFFICIAL%20TIME_SCHEDULE_flat.pdf).

Well I'd like to be first in my guess at who will be in the finals:

No worries about tactics or what not.

I feel a Boll vs Ovtcharov Final with Boll winning in the 5th.

Ovtcharov will win 38 points. My guess would be Boll 11-9, 11-7, 7-11, 11-9, 11-3

Here's to hoping I get it right :D

I'll follow your example to pick before the draw Mr. Richard ;)

I'm gonna go for suprises and some wishful thinking. :D

That is:

Final: Kalinikos Kreange - Michael Maze
Winner: Michael Maze (of course ;))
7-11 10-12 13-11 11-5 5-11 11-13 (2-4)
Points scored by Kreanga: 57

Good luck to all of you :D

Doesn't affect any of the entries so far, but Christian Süß has announced he isn't playing in the European Table Tennis Championships. He will be replaced in the team event by Ruwen Filus.

Michal_Z

Oki, so how do I see it:
Quarterfinals:
Maze will lose to Steger
Mattenet will lose to Boll
Samsonov will lose to Kreanga
Baum will lose to Ovtcharov

Semifinals:
Steger will lose with Boll
Ovtcharov will lose with Kreanga..

So the final Boll vs. Kreanga

Boll will win 4:1 with games:
8:11, 11:9, 11:7, 11:8, 11:6
So Kreanga will have 41 points in total.. :)

This is my prediction, but its very hard, because if Kreanga will not defeat Samsonov, then Samsonov will be in final instead of Kreanga :)
I dont think that Boll will enable any surprise from his side, he knows his place is on the top

Matt Hetherington
10-09-2011, 12:38 AM
I think Boll-Baum final Boll winner 4-1, Baum to score 42 points

Steven
10-10-2011, 09:02 PM
Sooo appearently Maze is not participating in the singles event? (at least that's what I've heard, and he's not on the list of participants either)
And does anyone know where you can see the seeding list? xD

I think it will be Boll and Ovtcharov in the finals. With Boll winning 4-1, and Ovtcharov winning 42 points.

No Ovtcharov. . well maybe my guess will be correct eventually..
Im just afraid of Kreanga, he is playing really poor for some unknown reason..

WiWa
10-11-2011, 04:39 PM
Oh that's right Maze is not even participating in the singles events:
"In the upcoming week I am back with my National team playing in the European Championships team competition. This competition brings back great memories from the 2009 championships were I came out on top in the individual competition. Unfortunately, I am not able to play in the individual championship this year. I still need to build up my knee in small steps, and the number of matches is still a bit too much in championships like this. Instead I am focusing on helping the Danish squad back into the best group. Unfortunately, during my injury last year, we moved down from the best group, so my main focus is to get us back up with the best teams in Europe. I feel that we have the team to do it and I am sure we will succeed in doing so."

There goes my pendant :(

Steven

Alright, my guess would be:

Final: Timo Boll vs. Bastian Steger
Winner: Timo Boll
Points scored by loser: 50

Bollforte94

My guess:
Final: Timo Boll vs. Dimitrij Ovtcharov
Points scored by loser: 51

DKPOWA
10-11-2011, 11:08 PM
Final: Timo Boll vs. Vladimir Samsonov
Winner: Timo Boll
Points scored by loser: 20

To guess, who will win is so easy but to get the right answer is so hard.

Vega
10-12-2011, 08:52 AM
for the semifinals i guess it is Boll vs. Ovtcharov which Boll will win and Baum vs Samsonov where Baum will take the victory so the final is

Boll vs. Baum
11:6, 11:7, 8:11, 11:6, 11:5

so 4:1 for Boll and Baum scores 35 points

Tek101
10-12-2011, 01:43 PM
Final: Adrian Mattenet vs. Dimitrij Ovtcharov
Winner: Ovtcharov
Points scored by loser: 39

The deadline for the competition has been extended to October 13th 2011 13:45:00 GMT.

For those that have already entered, don't worry, this does not give new entrants an advantage. The first round matches start 13:45:00 GMT on October 13th 2011. Therefore, no additional results will be known before the amended deadline.

Latest news is that Kreanga and Schlager have both withdrawn. Kreanga has a virus and Schlager a back injury.

There is less than 2 hours to get your predictions in!

Man Karakasevic like ruined everything. By entering he officially created a wave of unexpected upsets. Bojan took Dima in the 7th. I wasn't happy to hear about that. And had I thought it would have been a Boll vs Baum game I would have predicted some better match points.

I just have this though. 3 lefties made it to the finals so that says to me that Europe needs to work on beating lefties as the Chinese have.

Yes the thing about lefties is interesting, in the team semi's and final like half of the players were left handed, while in any random group of people the big majority is right handed. For me the upsets caused by Tokic and Karakasevic were amazing, even though it ruined my entry too xD. I enjoyed it :)
