Kong Linghui suspended as head coach of Chinese women's team!

The 2000 Sydney Olympic champion and Chinese women's national team head coach has been suspended from his current role after being sued $327,600 by a Singapore casino over alleged gambling debts. According to multiple sources, the former grand slam champion owes the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore $327,600 after failing to pay off the full $721,657 credit agreement he signed back in February 2015.

Kong Linghui has claimed that the debt was not accrued by him and he is being "dragged into a lawsuit". He has said on his Weibo account

"It is only until today after media reports have exposed the incident that I have learned someone had left some debt unsettled with the casino,"

"I am being dragged into the lawsuit. I have immediately requested the indebted to show up and clarify the facts."

"As we are in the middle of the World Table Tennis Championships, this incident has caused negative effect on the [national] team, which I feel deeply disturbed".

Kong Linghui is now no longer in Germany and has gone back to China and will miss the World Championships until all is resolved.

This story is still breaking and many of the finer details are yet to be determined. What is everyone's thoughts on this? Should he have been suspended immediately or should they have waited until the end of the championships? Will he ever get his job back?

What is certain is that this is a huge problem for the usually squeaky clean Chinese national team, and is sure to cause a massive headache for the rest of the squad and staff team.

Remember the time he crashed his Porsche with two women inside? Dude lives life, that's for sure.

From a certain angle he definitely looks like walter white from breaking bad. I dont get why they should suspend him in the middle of the world champs though nothing wrong with gamble, but I dont buy the story that he "vouched" for others to play :p

Temperately? That word means "abstaining from vices, especially alcoholic drinks". Under circumsstances might be a good idea.

Hahaha. And we both know that Chen Chen meant "Temporarily" rather than "Temperately". Heck, my iPhone's auto correct tried to turn temporarily to temperately too. [emoji2] Darn autoKorreKt. [emoji2]

When men have money and power, women and gambling even drugs are what they do. Lin Dan, a tennis player, was caught womanizing/cheating during his wife's pregnancy. It's no news and no surprising.

Looks like Konglinghui is clear now. News was released from Hongkong again. This media made a statement saying that he did not gamble, he doesn't know his friend who owes the money, his friend already paid back to money to the bank. What a drama!? Who knows what happened and why they released the news just when the WTTC started.

I'm quite skeptical about politics. I think timing is quite suspicious, choosing to make this public during world championship. Maybe someone is seeking KLH's position as coach of women team.

This is what KLH says. Is it true? Does it pass the smell test? Would you allow your family to run up a half million in gambling debts without your knowing? Apprently it didn't convince the CTTA since he is still out. And did this whole thing contribute to the ouster of LGL? What all is really going on?
