Here's our latest review of the Marcos Freitas ALC!

We recorded the review at the incredible Portuguese national team centre with the man himself, Portuguese number 1 Marcos Freitas.

We would like to thank Marcos for the time he gave us and Butterfly for providing us with the equipment to review.

Have you, or do you use this blade? Any questions, leave below guys :) I was ridiculously impressed with how easy Freitas was playing :D

Great review with nice comparison of the different blades. Thanks!

@Dan, how would you compare the Freitas ALC to your Carbonado 145 in terms of speeds & control ?

Can't wait for the competition. I am guessing Dan got 2 pts...

This review may be the only time Freitas uses his blade as long as his trust Maze is still operational.

The recovery time after his shots are insane. Shows how important the core muscles are in table tennis. Quick legs don't bring much if you are unable to make the transition with your hip and upper body.

Marcos' grunting sounds like Hulk in slo-mo

Thanks for the review, Dan. It will be interesting to compare this blade with the Viscaria.

Comparing a blade to a Timo Boll Spirit is not that different from comparing the blade to a Viscaria and Dan does that a lot in the review.

So which one do you prefer: Timo Boll ALC or Frietas ALC (you didn't say that in the review lol)

hmm! i find the viscaria to be a bit softer than the Boll ALC and more feeling also.

There is variation amongst individual blades, but that said, many player think a Boll Spirit is softer than a Boll ALC partly because it doesn't have the surface treatment that the ALC has. In the Butterfly catalog, the playing characteristics of the Spirit, Viscaria, Boll ALC, ZJK ALC and Matsudaira ALC are listed as being exactly the same in terms of thickness and speed. Not a topic for extensive debate on this thread, but my point is that it is all down to how strongly you feel the blades are different to want direct comparisons.

Does the blade have more control than a wood blade?

What's the composition of the Freitas blade I saw a comment on youtube that Dan had got it slightly wrong. Does anyone know the exact comp?

Same as Michael Maze but slightly thicker probably due to compensate for speed for the new balls.

Great video! Thanks Dan and Marcos for the review! Considering trying this blade in the future.

Also looking forward to the reviews with Simon Gauzy and the Aurus Prime with Paul Drinhall!

Cheers

Why is this bot posting here? Is it an experiment that the site owners are in on?
