As the title of the thread says, a few days after a spectacular Team WC in Magdeburg, the Singles WC is due.

That's a great group of players. I'm curious if ZJK is back from injury as well. With him and Timo returning from injuries and Wang Hao not in top shape, it might just become a really thrilling event.

Very true WiWa. With Wang Hao also not in amazing performance. We may see Mizutani and Mattenet in the later rounds :)

I don't think Mattenet can handle the world top yet. Mizutani probably has a good shot, but I'd love to see Oh in top shape getting far, and maybe Kishikawa can get a good result too. It's gonna be exciting for sure :)

Well if nothing else, this will be a good test run for China. To see if the current two that would be competing in the Olympics are good enough, or if not whether Ma Long should be placed in. Its been a while since only two Chinese players were present in a world cup. I mean even though its the least prestigious, its still a major after all....

Thanks!! Zhang Jike has the easiest group, that's good :) He can have trouble with Dima though. Boll will have to fear when he sees this. Oh might just beat him again :D

Oh nooo, too bad..
Timo has so easy group I think..
I hope he will lose to Oh Sang Eun, so he can get Wang Hao in semis, because if he will win the group, he will get Zhang Jike and I dont think that Timo can beat Zhang.. Injury or not, if he is participating on tournament, he must be in top shape and therefor I dont think Timo can beat him.. He has better chances beating Wang Hao, who is not really playing that good lately..
So I hope he will not win his group :)
Group D is very very interesting, there you cant say anything before they play!
I dont think anyone can predict anything in there :)
That one will be interesting to watch!

So, this seems to become a great tournament!

Don't think Zhang Jike will problem with Dima , because back hand to back hand there is no stopping Zhang Jike unless his level goes down due to injury ... also probably Timo will have tougher competition from Seiya Kishikawa if he is on a hot streak ... with Oh Sang once Timo gets him away from table there is no stopping Timo

I think it's going to be Timo's year this time. He had a good rest, he's fresh. Wang Hao had slowed down a bit and lacking in confidence, and ZJK is still not firing on all cylinders. The others are good, aside from Vladi and Jun, I don't think they have the pedigree.
