Ahhhh on this great table tennis day I just read that today our Dutch master, Cor du Buy, past away at the age of 90 years.
He became the 1st Dutch Champion at the age of 16 and in total 9 times. In Holland he is known as the Dutch player of the 20th Century.

Cor du Buy, RIP.

RIP Buy du. In case some of the younger players who may not know who this Dutch master is, here are some facts about him.

Cor du Buy ( Amsterdam , 8 January 1921 - Dublin , 11 November 2011 ) was a Dutch table tennis . He was nine times Dutch champion in singles, eight in the men's doubles and five times in the mixed doubles. His career began in 1937 when he was sixteen his first national title won in singles and lasted until 1955 , when he won his ninth title.

Buy du taught table tennis at home on the kitchen table with factions against his father. During the war he refused several times to join the national championships because he boycotted the games that Jewish athletes were excluded. His record would probably have been even greater. In the forties and fifties, Du Buy unbeatable long time and was the best in his sport. He played demonstration games in which he won the party he played sitting in a chair, while his opponent was allowed to roam Fri.

At age eighteen Buy En founded in 1939 as an HBS student, his own company 'du Cor Buy' on. He imported table tennis balls, stamped his name on it and sold it to sports. After the war, his brother Jack in the company table tennis and table tennis and great attributes, the brand Cor du Buy a concept. In 1979 the factory was sold in 1981 for bankruptcy.

Du Buy had with his sons Michael Jr. and Cor a tennis park in Bergen called The Imposter mirrors , named after the former playground at this place was. He sold and later returned with his wife back to Amsterdam. Du Buy and Knight was appointed honorary member of the Association NTTB .
