Tomo has developed tactics extremely similar to those of Chinese superstar, Liang JingKun, the 21 year-old Super League player, and Chinese # 4 this year. There is little mystery how Tomo beat Fan Zhendong since JingKun has beaten Fan Zhendong quite recently, and Fan has now made several adjustments to play Jingkun, just as Fan has made similar adjustments to play Tomo. Tomo and Jingkun have specific tactics to beat the cloud walkers like Xu Xin, Ma Long, and three quarters of the Super League. And this style will become more common and popular because Tomo proves that you do not have to be a Fan-style PLA monster to learn it. Liang Jingkun is a PLA style monster (his neck muscles are huge), but it is his mastery of the close-to-the-table attack stlye made famous by Tomo that is the "secret". It's going to be an exciting decade ahead because the Chinese monsters like Fan Zhendong are adding the Tomo style tactics, and Tomo is growing bigger with every bite of Sushi. It's gonna be good.

It's a legitimate question to ask if the Chinese team told Fan Zhendong to lose to Tomo on purpose to maintain their gold and silver streak at the Asian Cup (probably not). But that is not the real developing story here, and it is not the main, important story, which is the new tactics unfolding before our eyes, and the impact this will have over the coming years.
