Hi there, new to these forums but hoping you can help. I have a garden outdoor table , Sponeta 1-42e which came fitted with the ‘basic’ net set. This is a non adjustable plastic net that slips over two metal posts. Basic as it is it works ok but the net has stretched over time and there is no way to tighten it. Simplest solution (I thought) would be to buy a new net but I can’t find them anywhere. I have emailed sponeta.de but they don’t reply.

So does anyone know know where I can either buy a sponeta replacement net, or better still can anyone recommend a better net set that will fit this table (and where could I buy that?)

thanks in advance for any information anyone can help with.

cheers

Axs

Any halfway-decent indoor net set will do just as well, and would in fact be an improvement, so long as you take it off the table when it's not in use and don't leave it out in all weathers. Failling that if you really want one of the plastic nets you could try here:-

Also Thornton's Table Tennis (easily found on Google) actually supply Sponeta tables in the UK so you might strike lucky if you give them a call.

Thanks I’ve emailed Thornton’s and asked if they can help. I’d be very happy to fit a decent indoor net set, as long as it would fit on the table. The top is melamine rather than wood and a lot less than 25mm thick. It’s actually not a bad table, just the net set let’s it down.

You're welcome ! The usual problem with the cheapest net post sets used to be that they wouldn't open far enough to fit to the thickest table tops, whereas I've never seen a situation where the table top was too thin to clamp the posts to. In any case, the mail order/internet suppliers are very good, if something doesn't fit they'll soon exchange it. You won't find a bricks-and-mortar table tennis shop in the UK nowadays unless you happen to live near Middlesborough, but there are at least ten internet table tennis specialists and the majority of them provide everything you might ever need - and several things you never knew you needed until you saw them on their site !!
