Bad touch before warmup means we have a too fast setup for ourselves?

Hi all,

It's normal that before warmup we have a not so good feeling of the ball? It's normal that we struggle to drive the ball? (I use chinese on forehand) For example, with chinese rubbers I tried:

- Andro Treiber K;
- Stiga Clipper;
- BTY Viscaria;
- HL5.

From that blades, the blades were I could drive better were the Viscaria and the Treiber K. Clipper was stiff and the handle too hollow, felt strange. HL5 it's a dream blade to play, fast and soft, good when I need speed, and soft, because receiving isn't my strongest point, but I can only play well after a good pratice, feels like I'm playing with a blade made of rock. It's a signal that the blade is too fast for me?

Best Regards,
Eduardo

I think that if you don't have any control problem in match play then it's OK. But if you feel that sometimes the ball 'over react', probably yes. Just my personal experience but i very rarely feel i lose control except on player that are way stronger than me (then their spin or strategies is surprising to me and feel late/destabilized, but it's not the bat)

In warmup, I think it's normal and depend of people. Personally i'm a bit slow to get warmed and it takes me 2 to 5mn to get back good feeling. Even maybe more sometimes but lately i play a lot so it's short

I keep two blades for this reason. One that is fast with low feedback and one that is slower with high feedback. The rubbers are nearly identical on both blades, and the blades themselves while similar differ in speed/feedback. I (used to) warm up with both, starting with the slower one looking for the feel and touch, and then switch to the faster one once I found it.

The idea is not that different from how you warms up in basket ball. You usually start of by shoot shots close to the bucket with the emphasis on technique and loosening/awakening your finemote skills, before switching to long distance shots focusing on making them. In either case the idea is not make the shot at first, just to warm up your sense of timing.

Its very normal ... thats why you need warmup . If your muscles are not soft you cannot feel the impact , and also some of the neural pathways needs to be working for you to see the ball early. Thats all that happens in warm up.

In match play I love the blade, but I didn't pratice with someone that's much better than me with this setup, just people that are on my skill level or less. But yeah, my problem it's the warmup, the blade feel like a rock :p

Could be a solution, as I have some slower blades with almost identical constitution(without the ALC), though could be expensive, as I reglue my rubbers monthly because of the booster :p

Yeah, maybe not only table warmup, but also make a better warmup before go to the table! ;)
