Top 8 seeds (directly qualified for Round of 16):

1) Zhu Yuling
2) Kasumi Ishikawa
3) Ding Ning
4) Cheng I-Ching
5) Miu Hirano
6) Suh Hyowon
7) Doo Hoi Kem
8) Sofia Polcanova

It will be really interesting to see the draw for the round of 16 matches:
- will the Chinese (#1 and #3) be in the same half - again?
- will the Japanese (#2 and #5) be in the same half - again?
- who will be in the "easy quarter" together with Cheng (#4)

I hope we don't end up with Zhu and Ding in the same half and Ishikawa, Cheng, Hirano and maybe even Suh in the other half . But we'll see how it does... :)

sadly, if I didn't understand wrong, there is no possibility of a all China Finals, ZY and DN (hopefully) will clash in semis, as for Japan's they might get a hypothetical chance if HM is seeded in the first half, but let's be honest, if so she'll be doomed, Cheng is in the second half together with Kasumi

There will be no all-China final, that's for certain. DN and ZYL will be in the same half. It's been widely reported in the news.

More chances to see a surprise in the Women's World Cup than in the Men's this year ?

Are ZHU Yuling and DING Ning for this competition which is not their top priority ?

Of the 3 majors, the World Cup has always been regarded with the least emphasis by the CNT. That's why you see way more upsets for this title than the other two, especially after the previous Olympic cycle - Boll in 2005, Samsonov in 2009, Hirano in 2016, Ovtcharov(or Boll) in 2017.

It is a part of the answer maybe, but the world cup is every year AND there are less chinese players

Holy crap. There will very likely be an all-China final after all.

Hirano and Ishikawa are drawn in the same quarter.

That's pretty much the official answer. And there are equally less foreign players as well. Samsonov took out WLQ in 2001. Boll took out KLH and WLQ in 2002. Boll took out WLQ, MLin, and WH in 2005. RSM took out WLQ and MLin, losing out to WH in the final in 2007. Samsonov took out Chen Qi and ML in 2009. Boll took out LGY and ML in 2017. See a pattern? Most of them tend to happen a year after the previous Olympics.
