Hi all, just interested to see the responses to the following:
You have £600 to spend on all the table tennis equipment needed for yourself if you trained about 4 times a week, go ahead and splash the virtual cash on whatever you want! ( includes clothing, bat and case, but doesn’t include tables/ robots)
Have fun!!

Jersey autographed by Joo Sae Hyuk. That should do it, I can cover the rest of equipment out of pocket.

Maybe the shirt of RSM and the shorts of YSH. Why do South Korea produce the coolest players?

I would hire a personal coach until the money runs out.

If it has to be equipment, £600 worth of my current rubbers. I would imagine this would be most non EJ's answer. Because they probably have everything else they need!

If it can be anything then definitely £600 on one to one coaching. That would be 30 hours. Nothing will improve you faster or more efficiently than that.

won't change my blade but would try the Dignics80 for my FH, and spend the change with coaching lessons

600 may not be enough, but I would try to buy as many representative blade composition/constructions categories so I know what every "type" feels like. Call me an intellectual EJ.

I'd hire Ma Long as a coach.

Nah, if you're going this way, Liu Guoliang or Kong Linghui would be a better choice.

Yes, perhaps from a learning perspective but seeing as Ma Long is my favorite PERFORMER I'd like to get a TT lesson from him :)

£600 is about 700€. Sorry 500€. Sorry 600€. Sorry 550€. Sorry 650€. Sorry 800€. Sorry 700€. (yeah, that was a bad brexit joke). Let's keep it at roughly 700€.

Easy:
- Blade: Stiga Nostalgic Offensive (~70€)
- FH: Stiga Mantra M (~40€)
- BH: Yasaka Rakza 7 (~35€)

(yeah, that's my setup obviously)

which makes it about 140€ a racket. Now wait for it... x2! You never want to destroy one of your rubbers during a competition and be forced to forfeit (or continue in subpar conditions that will put more load on your willpower).
That makes it 280€ and I still have 420 to spare.

Let's spend about 20€ on a case to make it a round number again.

Now I definitely want at least a full set of clothes for each practice.
I'm counting about 70€ for a shorts + shirt set which makes it 280€ give or take.

I've still got 120€ to spare on a tracksuit and a pair of shoes. I'd wait for discounts and could probably fit quite fine in the original 700€ budget.

I wonder which of the current crop will make the best coach? Best player doesn't always mean best coach but given his playstyle, careee and what I know about his personality my bets would be on Ma Long.

If I had 600£ (About 800 dollars) to spend on table tennis equipment, I’d buy:
• Acoustic Carbon
• 2 Fastarcs G-1
• 2 Mantra M
• 100 pack of DHS balls
• Mizuno Wave Drive 8 shoes
• Shirts and shorts

That’d be about 550$.
I’d probably buy more rubbers then ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ

Being from Poland, I'd gladly spend it all on old Andrzej Grubba ALL+ blade, lie the one I had as my first blade :). Maybe it's not table tennis equipment per se, but I'd pay that money to go back in time and watch Andrzej Grubba play live just once :)

... and probably one navy Butterfly Santo shirt (I love the colours and I always play best when wearing it) :)

Although it sounds very very tempting and definitely I love to try new equipment. But if I had this kind of money to spare then I would spend it on upcoming kids who are in need. May be help them out a bit, by providing them with good shoes or a good setup. Also, I can put the money with some like minded coach who can guide these kids by giving them lessons (may be one lesson a week?). IMO, I think this would give me more happiness.

Lasta, a club I used to play at in NYC's Chinatown (it closed down years ago) I knew one of the guys working there for years. He was a big EJ. He would get everyone from the club to let us try their rackets. I must have tried 100s of rackets.

You would have fun with trying everyone's stuff with my friend. I learned a lot from him about blades. He would hit with the blade, tell me what he felt and then have me try. At first I didn't know a thing. After a few years of doing that, I started to understand a little about blades. :)

That is real. That is Timo Boll’s shirt. He wore it at an event in NYC years ago at SPiN.

I teach one of the owners of SPiN private yoga lessons. He got it from Timo to give to me. [emoji2]

I have to be honest, 600£ isn’t that much.

But I would just get:

OSP Virtuoso Plus
T05 2x

Or maybe I would try Dignics 05.

I see no reason to spend 600£ on TT equipment. A new pair of shoes every year (or two), a set of new rubbers twice or thrice a year, that's it unless I break my blade (knock on wood). About €200-250, no more, and over that amount something is just going to gather dust in a closet and fall prey to shelf life decay.
