need advice for new setup

Hey Hey,

I'm playing for some years now and I want to change my setup.

I want to play with this frame
http://www.sporteurope.nl/ProductDe...ode=ALLRFRE&SelectedCat=|TTFRAMES E||ALLRFRE|

It's a dotec allround frame. Now I use almost the same and I'm really happy with the cork feel. Now I use short pimples on my backhand. I'm happy but I want more.I mostly use my bh for blocking and semi opening and short push.
The stats I like are: block perfect, short push happy, chop decent, smash bad, semi spin opening decent. I would like to improve my smash and opening with spin. Maybe I should change to spinny short pimples, is that a good choice?

Forehand I use for opening spin, mostly a winner, block smash and backspin push. I now use neos tacky. Block is perfect, smash decent, spin decent, push bad, chop bad. I like to improve first spin ball. Now it's hard work and curves nice but not a lot of spin. I think of changing to tenergy 64. Is this a good choice or do I need to go for something else? If you need more info ask a question and I will answer. Thanks in advance.

Instantly I am thinking STIGA Calibra LT Spin for you my friend. But it's also not a bad choice to go Tenergy. Still there is a voice in my head yelling Andro Hexer.. Personally I use the Calibra LT Spin now, and I can tell you I like it somewhat better that T64 because its easyer to make a good service with it. I used to use the T64, but since I've switched to Calibra Spin some months ago I have used 3 of them, and they're perfect! ;)

Gonna switch them with Andro Hexer HD tho, because of some "sponsorship stuff", but I still like the Calibras :)

To be honest maybe you should consider switching to inverted if you want to work on opening loops and smashing. Short Pips are very limited rubbers if you aren't able to do everything with them. You should have no problem attacking the ball or defending the ball with the pips so long as you put the practice in and concentrate on technique. If you however do not have the time and do not like the poor performance on certain shots I would suggest more control like rubbers which will allow you to do all of the above that you're been asking for. Focus Snipe 3 comes to mind as a great control rubber that can pretty much do it all.

Great reply, I missed stiga calibra. Maybe better for me because the change from neos (also stiga) is less big?

Yes, the change won't be so big since its the same brand and all that. I also think it will suit you perfectly from what you described :)

For my backhand side i dont agree that i should switch back to inverted. I change to short pips to play closer to the table and to lose a big weakness. If i play with inverted, I tend to keep pushing, chopping and im waiting. I wont take any initiative. My opponent use this weakness to keep playing on my backhand untill they get a good chance to attack. Now i change to short pips and now i attack when i have the chance. This in combination with perfect control over my backhand block is for me perfect.
I only like to make it a bit easier for myself to make the first spinball. I can make them but not on the medium heavy backspinballs. I can also smash but i miss the highest and easiest balls. The long low, or short balls i can hammer away with my pips perfectly.
Conslusion for me is that i want to keep playing with short pips, but i think i should change the type of pips im playing with. Now im playing with Friendship R.I.T.C. 799. It's a medium short pimple rubber.

And for my forehand? Do you agree with Anders that Calibra is a good choice or do you think Tenergy is better for my style.

Funny you should ask this. Normally I wouldn't know what type of short pips are good. But this is your lucky day. I just got back from a hit out at another club, and the guy I was playing against uses 729 Friendship 802-40 short pips rubber for his BH. The amount of spin he generated was massive, and at incredible speed. And it's cheap!! hehehe He said he uses the pro version, if that means anything to you. Try and search the net if you want more info. Goodluck!!:)

Ok i checked it out and it looks promising. I now use friendship 729-799. I noticed that 'the community' calls them medium pimples and not short. My first question will it create a big change for my game if i change to short pips?

Then i looked on the internet and found some other promising pips. Does anyone know something about the next rubbers?:

1. Galaxy Uranus
http://www.tabletennisdb.com/pips/galaxy-uranus.html

2. Butterfly Raystorm
http://www.tabletennisdb.com/pips/butterfly-raystorm.html

3. Dawei 388B
http://www.tabletennisdb.com/pips/dawei-388b.html

4. TSP Spectol
http://www.tabletennisdb.com/pips/tsp-spectol.html

I'm looking for pimples that good for blocking and get some spin with then when you make the opening shot. At the moment my feeling goes to friendship 802-40. Just a little step from my friendship 799 but with more spin and suits the style im playing more (i think/hope).

Some players in my club are BH-blockers, they use Dr. Neubauer Diamant pimples for backhand. Really weird to play against, but I think it is kinda easy to use.. Sounds like it would suit you ;)

EDIT: It is also possible to make a leathal attack with them, you an control the rythm of the game easy

Yeah i've heared about it before, but this is more a block and contra rubber. I like to play with spin, kinda weird i play with pimples (short) but it seems to work out for me. Ow and now that i have your attention :p how do you rate blocking for calibra LT. I want to change to Calibra or Tenergy

Calibra works very nice for blocking for me. If you think FOREHAND, you can do ANYTHING with the Calibra LT Spin. Loop, block, chop, push, short game, spinny serves, long serves, short serves :)

It is simply superb! :D

haha nice, im only afraid it's to fast for me. 1.8 mm sponge could be still to fast. I like the spin on it but i dont want it to run away from me.

From these 4 buddy, I am only familiar with raystorm, but honestly it's kinda of an old rubber don't you think. Yup, I took the liberty looking up 802-40, and yes..it does look good. At presports they even have the pro version..:)

Yeah I made up my mind and will go for the 802-40.only in the Netherlands it's much more expensive. Still it's only 18 euro.
