--- Energis Masters - 21st Jan 2012 - St. Wendel, Germany ---

Whilst the Hungarian Open World Tour (http://www.tabletennisdaily.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?1993-Hungarian-Open-2012-ITTF-World-Tour) has kicked off to a flying start this week, the Energis Masters will begin on Saturday 21st January 2012. This is going to be a big tournament so lets get started by discussing the seeds and the event. We can use this thread as a means to display all the latest results, videos and news from this spectacular event!

Prize Money

The winner of the Energis Masters receives a cheque of 8.000 Euro's. Second place receives 4.000 Euro's with third places as 2.000.

I am not to sure which other players are competing in this event, please let us know so we can include to the list and poll.

Liam Pitchford on his twitter account announced he is in the same group as Timo Boll and Werner Schlager and cannot wait to play them!

I think Baum or Persson can win, and maybe Chen Weixing can go far. I'm curious about Timo's form.

How good is waldner. He "was" legendary good. Can he still compete or is he just a show element?

I'm not quite sure if Timo really plays, would not be too surprised if he cancels this event.. If so my guess goes to Wang Xi :)

Voted for Waldner, but I also think that Persson and Schlager can make it.. Just wants Waldner to win it soooo badly :D

Wang Xi will add awesomeness too.

Yeah me to, Pitchford has Boll and Schlager in his group. I hope we get videos of this! I have always wanted to see how someone like Pitchford would get on against Boll! :)

Has nobody else noticed the ominous presence of Li Ping!?
The chinese player has the easiest group, and is underrated for this event.
I would consider him the clear favorite.
Wang Xi could also pull some upsets....

he won the tournement last year, i think. he came from china to defend his title ;)

Some news, semifinals were
Boll - Li Ping 3:1 and Baum - Persson 1:3 so Boll and Persson will play the final.. Unfortunately no more results so far from the group matches..
