Questions, I got questions:

When was the last time a defender won a men's ITTF event? Last time in the SF?

When was the last time defenders won BOTH the men's singles and women's singles in an ITTF event?

Congrats to Ruwen and Hitomi! Both very tenacious wins. The last point between Sato and Saki was well fought on both sides.

Amazing to see a defender win an event nevermind two.

Yes great to see it. I think one of TT's strengths as a sport is the wide varieties of styles that can be successful. I think players and coaches are still figuring out what the bigger ball enables in that way - I'm hoping that someone figures out a way to pair fishing with high spinny aggressive loops as at least a somewhat successful style (Xu Xin approaches this at times imo). That could produce some great matches to watch imo.

And another question: What was the last time a male defender won both men's singles AND men's doubles in an ITTF event?

Nice to see Saki win doubles after losing that tough women's singles final.

btw thx Loopadoop for doing this reporting.
