Hello all,

I built a $1000 USD ping pong table. It's 3" thick (7.623 cm). I can't find a net that will fit. Any suggestions? The table is 3" thick so I need a net that will accept a 4" table. (See pictures).

If you made the table, you probably have access to tools that would allow you to cut a channel on each side where the net would attach and cut so that area where the net would attach is the thickness of a normal table so you can simply get a good net to put on that table you made.

Hope the cross beam in the base does not mess anyone's shins up when people are stepping in under the table for short balls.

This is too nice and too expensive of a table to cut into. The materials were around $1000. It's a work of art.

Not sure if the c clamp net will fit even if the disc part of the clamp is at its lowest.
That is a possibility. But this is simple piece of steel. It can be easily modified with angle grinder and a simple welder (if needed the screw also can be replaced by a cut threaded rod). If have super fancy custom table you already probably have some skills to make such kit work.

BTW How this table plays? Is it decent? Most of tables I played had sweet spot with 28mm thickness, also 22mm was kind decent enough. Most thick tables I used were very awkward.

That net post won't fit without alterations. Max table thickness specified is 1.5". I've seen netposts that support thicknesses up to 4cm, but not more. Why not take one and modify one to fit? With all these woodworking skills on display, why not encase it to match the look?

We use 28mm tables (Tibhar 28R), which will be replaced. One of the requirements being leg depth for wheelchair players, we're considering a 25mm table (BTY Centerfold 25), which plays just fine as well (IMHO). I don't really see a valid reason for thicker, but I do think that the table coating is important. It needs to be matte and smooth, but by no means frictionless.

That table is a looker allright, but seems shiny (reflecting glare) and slippery to me. But perhaps this is a "form over function" design choice, it being a work of art first and foremost...
