This tournament will be very interesting, how will the top seeds perform without the top 3 (Zhang Jike, Ma Long & Wang Hao)? Could Timo Boll maintain his form after reaching the final of the World Cup and the winning the European Championships? Could compatriot Dimitrij Ovtcharov win the German's hearts? Perhaps Chuang Chih Yuan will make a dent in the main draw.

Amalraj v Simon Gauzy was a good match too.. Gauzy had a 2-0 lead, went down 2-3, made it 3-3 and was down 6-9 in the 7th. Made it 9-9 and finally lost 11-9. Happy for Amalraj! Good for TT in India.. But Sharath Kamal lost his 1st round to Fedor Kuzmin. Would have been great to have 2 players in the 2nd round.

Funnily, Amalraj had trouble putting away lobs and with his backhand. He missed so many easy balls. I felt Gauzy didn't use his FH enough. the match was pretty even throughout.
