--- Ma Long remains World no.1 ---

Definitely first-place-worthy Ma Long stays at the top, as he hasn't lost a single set in the whole of the past month!

March has been the month of the World Team Classic! Although the top 20 players haven't met each other a lot, several surprising results occurred.

Left: Omar Assar after Egypt's win over Germany. Right: Chien-An Chen - Photos by: ITTF

Biggest surprise of the tournament was the Men's team of Egypt. After a historical 3-2 victory over Singapore in their group they became the first ever African team to reach the quarter finals. Even more unexpected the team managed to extend their success to also beat Germany 3-2 and reach the semi-finals. The main three players, El-Sayed Lashin, Omar Assar and Ahmed Saleh, have each earned their highest World ranking so far, at places 76, 101 and 152 respectively.

Another surprise was one of the players who ended Egypt's winning streak. Young and talented Chinese Taipei's Chien-An Chen managed to overcome World champion Zhang Jike in the men's team final after an exciting full-range match. Chien-An Chen jumps 21 places to the 27th spot.

Nearly unnoticed is how Japan's Koki Niwa regains the first place in the U21 ranking - He had lost it to Yan An last month..

We are already in the middle of the Korean Open 2013! What influence will this tournament have on the current ranking? Will Ma Long stay at the top? Or could Yan An cause trouble like last time? Discuss!

There is not really a lot of changes.

Minnie SOO and LAM Yee Lok are both from HK. Both are junior players and Minnie Soo is still a cadet!

Yep. Not a lot of changes. In the top 20 of the men's, no real changes at all.

Yaay Cazuo Matsumoto from my country! He won a match of Jun Mizutani (3x0) (:

And definitely no real changes

i think next months list will have a few changes on it!
yan an will move up, and zhang jike wont move down i dont think, but will certainly lose some more points...

in the women, lee ho ching, seo hyo won and hiroko fujii will all move up again ebcause of their korean open performances. kang dongsoo should move up a bit too, as he beat muramatsu and kazuhiro chan :)

do they use the april or may rnking list for the seeding for the worlds?

i think i the next ranking list Xu Xin will be number one.

Xu Xin is back to world rank number one in May as expected and surprise to see Wang Hao replaced ZJK as WR3. Yan An jump from 22 to 14 and the rest remain more or less the same. Congratulation XX. WTTC sure will be exciting.

ZJK now #4 behind Wang Hao :(

Hope the upcoming WTTC will make some big changes to the World Rankings in June. Unlike other sports, table tennis tends to have less changes in rankings.

Hopefully Zhang Jike will regain the top spot or at least third. I'm pretty sure Yan An will be able to break the top 10 this time too. If Ma Long meets Xu Xin in the finals for WTTC, the winner will be WR no.1 fo sure. And Boll should really move somewhere from 5th :p
