Four Chinese male players have been listed into 2011 Rotterdam WTTC.They are Zhang Jike, Wanghao, Hao Shuai and Ma Long. According to the new rules issued by International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), China has seven singles berths for men and women respectively, together with three doubles and two mixed doubles in the coming Rotterdam world championships. "The other players to Rotterdam WTTC will be decided later," said head coach Liu Guoliang. A selective tournament had been held for the qualification of 2011 World Championships in January. And the top four players would qualify automatically. In the women's team, Ding Ning and Guo Yan have qualified for the championships, and the last two members will be unveiled soon.

Can China make up its mind about who is going to the WTTC?

At first, it was Zhang Jike, Ma Lin, Ma Long, Wang Hao and Xu Xin

Now check out this article:
http://www.ittf.com/_front_page/ittf_full_story1.asp?ID=23579&Competition_ID=1962&

Where did Hao Shuai come from??

In my mind, it should be obvious that former champion: Wang Hao goes,
Running no. 1 all year long - Ma Long goes,
And ofcourse the current best player: Zhang Jike goes
For the rest, if you have everyone else battle it out giant round robin style from the national team, I believe Chen Qi and Xu Xin will produce the best results.

(Wang Liqin and Ma Lin ought to think about retiring..)
Your thoughts?

Erm... I never read anywhere about the first set of people you listed. China announced they would hold two round-robins to decide who goes, and the top four spots (they ranked the players within China) after the two would be guaranteed a ticket (not necessarily singles is what i've heard) to Rotterdam.

Basically, after the first trial, the top four were: Zhang Jike, Wang Hao, Chen Qi, Hao Shuai.

After the second: Zhang Jike, Wang Hao, Hao Shuai, Ma Long....

So there you go.... I really wanted Chen Qi to get a guaranteed spot. Too bad he lost to Xu Xin in the second trials. Was a close match.

Hmm, I just said this in another post, but here's the answer again:

China hosted two trials and ranked the players. The top four ranking players got guaranteed spots (well.. ticket to Rotterdam, dunno if that means singles for sure... maybe it does now). The top four ranking players were Zhang Jike, Wang Hao, Hao Shuai, Ma Long... in that order.

Makes sense, like you guys said, Hao Shuai is good against his countrymen, only makes sense his ranking would be high amongst them.

Oh, there can only be 4 players a country for the WTTC?
Anyways, I agree, i think that a player like xu xin or chen qi will produce better results than hao

I'd like to see Chen Qi, Ma lin, Wang liqin or some of the young chinese instead of Hao Shaui... Shuai is getting better but I'd like to see Ma Lin og Wang Liqin instead
