As you can see from the title: I have a question. I would like to know how the chinese players are selested for the olympics, because there are only two players that can be chosen. Does Liu Guoliang decide who is allowed to participate or does the world ranking decide that? I hope someone replies :D Greetings from Germany :D

For London 2012:
The top 28 players of the world ranking qualified immediately, 2 max per country for the singles event. They used the world ranking of May, 2011 for this, which is the ranking that was updated directly after the 2011 WTTC. Wang Hao and Zhang Jike were ranked #1 and #3 and thus qualified immediately. Ma Long was ranked #5 back then.

I think important thing to note is Team Management does plan.
But the only thing they can do is make sure the player plays in as much world tours as possible - so they can get points and get good ranking.
But, it is silly. London 2012 direct qualification was done 1 year before the event......
A lot of things can happen in 12 months
