In an interview published in November's Issue of Table Tennis World <<乒乓世界>>, Wang Hao talked about his marriage of this year, his impending fatherhood, and his future career as a coach. Wang Hao was asked the hypothetical question of how he would coach Zhang Jike, Ma Long, and Xu Xin, "the three musketeers" of the Chinese National Team.

On Zhang Jike:"Jike is a very sensible person. He knows what matters the most to him. If you could make him understand the importance of the matter, he'll be able to settle down and focus on the game. Perhaps people usually think of Jike as a fun-loving person, but when it comes to the serious business, nobody is better prepared and nobody works harder than him."

On Ma Long:"Ma Long is always dependable and hard-working. The important thing is how to mobilize him, how to reduce his stress and remove his burden so that he could release himself completely and play the game freely. Another thing is you should encourage Ma Long, make him understand that the fiercer the competition between him and Jike, the better it is for both of them to grow as a player."

On Xu Xin:"Xu Xin did not perform well in the National Games. It may be due to his state of mind. Based on what I know about him, he likes to play the game the way he wants it to play out. So, when an opponent does not play the way he has expected, he'll become confused. Also, he has some flaws in his techniques. He's not as all-around as others. It's easier for someone to beat him down. If he could solve the problems in his mentality and his techniques, he'll become a much stronger player. The key for him is to be tough on himself."
