Hi guys,

First post on here, so please excuse my ignorance!

I play with Tenergy 05 on FH and 05 FX BH.

I like Tenergy, like the spin, speed, control etc however my wallet doesn`t like being pounded each time I need a new sheet. So here is my dilemma.....I don`t want to shell out 50 bucks for a new sheet but I still want a rubber of equivalent quality.

Obviously I`ve seen the DHS and Hurricane series but never actually tried them. Are they the best bet of finding a rubber that is most similar to Tenergy?

I`ve seen a few reports that Hurricane is pretty much useless if you don`t boost it either.

What`s your thoughts guys?

Cheers

Joe

First time poster but long time user of joola rhythm. Never looked back! Quick, spinny and significantly cheaper!

honestly DHS hurricane is nothing like tenergy. it is much slower and has a much tackier top sheet
Andro Rasant (the normal one) is actually quite similar to tenergy and those who use tenergy find that the rasant is an excellent substitute and costs much less as well

P.S. there are slight differences though but then again you will never get a perfect match between rubbers

Hurricane is not a Tenergy substitute. A million miles away, totally different. Better in some aspects IMO, but you seem to be looking for a cheaper alternative, and as close to Tenergy as possible.

I don't think anything is exactly like it, but recent tensors are really, really close in performance terms. I'm using Omega V Pro now, and it's frighteningly good for the money. Arc and spin are very, very close to T05 levels, but it's far better behaved than any Tenergy in the short game. I'm not sure about durability yet - it's too early to say, and Tenergy does tend to last a while.

Hurricane is the opposite of Tenergy. Its tacky and not bouncy and with low throw angle. Its sponge is pretty damn hard and if you were not playing with it for at least one year its useless. its much better short game but not as good in blocking.

Anyway it will take a LOT of time (probably one year or more) for someone using T05 to adjust to it. Because its not just the matter of different spin and speed. Your normal loops will not work with it. You must learn to hit the ball very hard and with open arm unlike what i guess you are doing now to be able to play with it.

About boosting it, its different for different players. Some like it boosted, some other don't need to boost it.

I think its better to go for Acuda or Bluefire series of Donic. Their price is half of a Tenergy but still they are pretty close to it. If yo want even more spin you can try Bluefire JP series. They are one of the most spiniest rubbers after Hurricane i have played with it.

I dont think there is any rubber that plays like tenergy 05. I havent found a rubber that is as fast and has the dwell time as well. I have to say that the Bluefire M2 has the same spin, speed and arc but it has less dwell so when I changed from 05 to Bluefire M2 the ball sometime felt straigh into the net because I wasnt used to the short dwell time.

Tenergy is the best rubber on the market by far. In terms of performance and durability it is 2nd to none. By trying the numerous imitations you're just wasting money, they may perform for the short term but not the way Tenergy does and not for as long as it does. Trust me I've tried a few. I'd like to know exactly what percentage of the top 100 men and women players in the world use it, regardless of and despite their contractual obligations.

I would also suggest XIOM Vega Pro as replacement of Tenergy 05.
Very spinny and fast, i tried it on a Michael Maze blade and it is really fast and spinny, only for advanced players !!
killypong aka ma lin , also a ttd member uses it and plays in the Belgian super league (he won against Wang Jian Jun with this rubber on the FH side)

Evolution series is a great rubber, but it costs almost as much as Tenergy itself.

Aurus is by far the best performing rubber for 1/2 the price of Tenergy. You look around and be patient, you can get Aurus pretty inexpensive. Aurus lasts 3X longer than Tenergy for me and plays acceptable in all phases on many different blades just like T05 plays well on about anything you slap it on.

I have used Rhyzm as well for last two years. However last year I got 4 not so good sheets and just one which was excellent. Maybe I just had a bad luck but still I´m looking for an alternative to Rhyzm.

rakza 7 is very similar and even rated better by many.

Reviews doesnt matter. If you look at the reviews between Andro Hexer and Yasaka Rakza 7 they should play exactly the same, only a small difference in speed.
I played with both and the differences are huge. But back to topic there is not really a rubber that can replace Tenergys. I have not found a rubber in the same speed range with this much dwell time on the rubber. This is what makes it so populair.

In speed and spin the Rakza 7 and Tenergy 05 are similair but the Rakza 7 has not as much dwell time and the ball doesnt dip as quick.

Same for Bluefire M2 but the arc is similair to Tenergy 05 as well.

The Hexer has about the same dwell time, spin, arc and is like Tenergy 05 pretty reactive to incoming spin but is slower. Maybe a Hexer on an OFF+ blade can give the same results as tenergy 05 on a OFF blade. Who knows...

But a rubber thats similair in all aspects just doesnt exists

I know they dont really matter, its just there to give an idea about the rubber.

but maybe when the new ball comes out then tenergy might drop,so i think we should wait and see.

That's a good point. I don't think the Tenergy would drop BECAUSE of the new ball, but rather because of the advertising of other rubbers made for the new ball. I will not change my equiptment unless the ball is VERY different.
