that would be devastating for him if that would be the case.

Very possible.
I see this as a trial run.
In 2 years time, Ma Long will be older and on the other side of the perfect age for TT (in Chinese terms)
ZJK who is a bit older than Ma Long, surely will miss out.

XX should deserve this spot - if he continues to be on form, he will secure his direct qualification rights from world ranking, same applies as FZD
and only way is to pull a "injury" for Ma Long of ZJK to play.

Also taking into consideration - OG WR qualification is around 1 year away from now (6 to 12 months before the actual tournament)

Nice !
I'm impatient to see how Xu Xin will do with the new ball.
I'm a little bit worried for penholders but maybe (I hope) I'm wrong.

Actually, the old celluloid ball will still be used in Asian Games.

Oh OK. It seems that I will have to wait to see Xu Xin play with the new ball.

Besides that, it's a bit messy with the old and the new ball at the moment. Players who have played in the Belarus, Czech and last Opens (e.g. Ai Fukuhara, Kasumi Ishikawa...) may have some troubles to readjust.

Most professionals just need 1 week of training to adjust.
Many of them stated that during interviews of late

Yeah, right. It's true that professionals surely can adapt quickly to changes.
It's a bit odd to play with different balls in different tournaments at professional level though. I guess next year there will be only new balls in this kind of tournaments. It's just a transitionnal period. :)

i think Ma long is still the best player in the CNT. and they're building FZD up to become an unbeatable monster. and IDK about Xu Xin but i know all members of the CNT are more than qualified to face the world. Though I would like to see more from Fang Bo :D

For the moment, maybe yes.
give another 6 months, 12 months, Ma Long's position may be more difficult
give another year to 2, almost sure he will not be the best
give another 4 years, he might be retired or closing in onto retirement.

Fang Bo is the sad one, he missed a lot of oppurtunity.
There is always the "top 5", and until one of the Top 5 falls out, another one can't come in. Look at Chen Qi - he was waiting until retirement and still didn't get in.

Yeah, I wish this transition can just finish asap
By then, demand of poly balls will be same as cellu balls - therefore pricing can come down too.

But it is great to see Pro's getting challenged in terms of different ball.
Its like watching tennis - some are better in grass court, some are betting in clay etc

I find it really interesting with this chopper + offensive player combo. It seems to happen more and more regularly.
Hardly see it 5 years or so ago, now its in super league, at world champs etc

OG qualifying system is based on qualifying tournaments and after that WR which i think two Chinese players will qualify by tournament and WR is not important for them. qualifying tournaments are one year away form now.

FZD will be 18 there. ZJK and ML are far more experienced than FZD which i think is the most important factor for OG. We all saw how FZD were losing to WR100 in WTTTC and he survived 3:2. After that match LGL didn't let him to play there any more. So do you really think LGL will send FZD instead of ZJK or ML? I don't think so.
