Tough choice!
I've picked Bayi for the Men's.

scylla24

yeah Bayi for me. Zhou Yu, and Yan an will be interesting to see. And then of course they can rely on Wang Hao as a backbone.

Shandong Luneng club !
My choice is biased because Joo is there haha !

Naah, I think the team Timo and Ma has a better chance, Shandong Luneng the 2nd or 3rd based on my view..

I chose Bayi as well solely based on the fact that Hou Yingchao plays there THE SHORT PIP CHOPPER EXTRODINAIRE! and for Woman's Shangdong...that team is just not fair to the other ones lol. in all honesty though, I think the team(s) to most win the Men's is either: Ningbo Haitian Club or Zhejiang Nirui Bank Club

Definitely Zheijang Nirui that's a classy combination of players! Still plenty of people backing Shandong Luneng, I just don't think they can do it this year :P

BTW, Zhejiang played Sichuan, not Bazhou. Zhang Jike won his matches 3-2(vs. Zhang Yu) and 3-1(vs. Qiu Yike). Also of interest is that Ding Ning lost her match vs. Li Xiaodan(note: NOT the current #1 Li Xiaoxia) 0-3. Xiaodan isn't a complete unknown though, she beat Feng Tianwei earlier this year in the Polish Open.

What you mean by that?

Playing table tennis all your life is a hard life? I mean you have to practice alot, I know that. But you dont have to work all day, like heavy work or sitting behind a desk all day.

Bollforte94

1. Do you really think to be a table tennis pro is easy? not that much freetime chinese pros trains 7 hours a day + fitness training
ofc miners has harder work but you think it's about fun ... some chinese players hates table tennis like Zhang Yining and many would do something else but they have to. No way out.
2. But I mean something different. :D The coaches doensnt like him that much. for example he was the 4th bets player in the trials and the chinese coaches said that the 4th best has a seat for sure and he didnt get a seat for singles

Damn, Xu Xin is really good! I'm impressed ^^

I don't know, he has the most amazing forehand loops, but I have actually been kind of disappointed in his progression and his attitude. From the multitude of videos that show the Chinese players playing and training, and telling their backgrounds and story, I can't help but get the impression that Xu Xin is lazy and has a wrong attitude. His coaches describe him as one of the laziest players, and in one video just watching him make excuses to his bad performance for his loss to Wang Liqin in the team trials, just reminded me a lot of the typical young Chinese person nowadays in China who tends to make a lot of excuses for his short comings, doesn't take responsibility for his actions.

Right now, Xu Xin seems to be relying more on his physical gifts, his height, long reach, and his speed, and less on putting in the work to improve other aspects of his game, and his mental tactics seem to be lacking.

Hmmm interesting, Ruifeng from what I saw in his previous matches in the past has a really good touch and blocking ability, so I can definitely see Ma Long having difficulty against him. Just like his first match against Chan Kazhuhiro last year.

haha, of course not, I was just commenting on my observations. Xu Xin definitely has insane potential. His forehand is already out of this world, and every time the point got to the mid range looping stage, Xu Xin pretty much always beat Zhang Jike in that match.

Yea it is remarkable how fast he is in 2nd position. Everything with his FH. He is one of those players I wouldn't know how to play against because he does the same thing with every ball u give him: FH sweep.

Of course haha, but usually Ma Lin and Wang Liqin will b a little mpre passive if u play on their backhand. But in their prime they would've done the same as XX and ML nowadays. I just wonder how you coach against those guys. "Just serve anywhere you want and make sure you counterspin everything back until he makes an error, approx. 10 shots/point" ^^

He also defeated Joo Se hyuk 3-2 but his team lost ....

Xu Xin won against Yan An 3-0 and against Wang Hao 3-2

Lan
06-13-2011, 10:35 AM
actually Ma Loong lost to joo.And he won against Zhang just because he was stronger mentally(Iguess so).
(in fact Ma won the majority of matches so Zhang is kind of afraid of Ma, his power specifically).
Looking back to his performance against Boll, Wang Hao and Wang Liqin I can surely say that he's currently better than Ma.
When Ma played against Wang Hao he lost almost all points in backhand rallies while Zhang was dominating them:D

Bollforte94
06-13-2011, 10:51 AM
Read again Ma won 3-2 against Joo Se Hyuk
Quote: Joo successfully challenged Ma Long 2-3 ;)
Ma Long won :)
And you are right, his performance against Boll Wang Hao and Wang Liqin were amazing but Ma Long would beat Wang liqin for sure
against Wang Hao is always 50-50
Asian Games Ma Long
UAE Open Wang Hao
Chinese Trials Ma Long ( but Wang was injured)
WTTC 2011 Wang Hao

and so on

against Boll there can happen everything like WTTTC 2010 ( Boll won 3-2) or Euro vs Asia Challenge ( Ma Long demolished Boll 3-0)
I am sure if Ma Long would have meet Zhang in the semis in Rotterdam Ma Long would win and Wang Hao would won against Boll
but it's senseless to discuss about that
I just want to say one more thing: Ma Long 15 - 2 Zhang Jike muhahah :D

Hello Rhydian, I've got part of this information from the VOD*-page of CCTV-5 (using the Google Translator) ::
[* VOD = Video On Demand]

URL - http://bugu.cntv.cn/sports/information/cctv5tiyusaishi/videopage/index.shtml

You could find 2 videos there (of the whole meeting) and I found the results/scores watching the videos.
Finally, I corrected the names of the teams (google-translation wasn't ok)
for example, you could find the right names in the 1st post of this thread (Thanks to Dan!) or elsewhere (with gooogling).

I have made 2 errors in my previous post, but the "Edit Post" again doesn't work when I was trying to "Save" any changes

yeah, for some reason ZJK has been playing really sluggishly in the CSL. Maybe, once you win something big, everything else starts seeming pretty mundane and pointless. Its something that plagues a lot of top professionals, the ability to find the drive to stay at the top of your game once you have accomplished something big. Ma Lin usually never beats ZJK, but a combination of ZJK playing bad, and the fact that Ma Lin is just in incredible form atm meant that he absolutely slaughtered ZJK this match

Michal_Z
06-28-2011, 03:04 PM
Well, this surprises me a lot!
Because - Zhang won world championship, but next year are Olympic games!
That has to be more interesting!
So why he turned off... ?

And.. another question: When will next round of CSL be?
Any schedule?

Rhydian
06-28-2011, 08:13 PM
Wasn't he injured or something like that? I think it looked like that..
I presume that the Olympic games are more big than the world championship, so I think he might be interested in it!

scylla24
06-30-2011, 12:52 AM
There is no doubt that the olympics are the biggest event in table tennis, and of course ZJK would be interested in them, I was only saying that once you start winning big events, the small stuff starts to become insignificant, and therefore its harder to sum up the energy and drive to train hard for the smart events.

yeah, for some reason ZJK has been playing really sluggishly in the CSL.

Well I think thats another skill that differentiate all time greats and pros..

scylla24

Well I think thats another skill that differentiate all time greats and pros..

Yeah of course, the all time greats are able to keep that drive going, and view the bigger picture of competing against history and not just against their peers at the particular moment. I think thats one of the biggest knocks against Waldner, he never consistently kept himself at the top, and would often lose to no names in smaller tournaments. While WLQ had two unprecedented periods at the top.

There is always time to rest once you retire as an athlete.

Rhydian

Good rallies in the video, thanks!
You're right scylla24, after retiring as an athlete, tjere's a lot of time to rest and to play how you want! But as you're a top player and you can get better and better, then you shouldn't stop just because you don't have any ambition or pleasure in playing.. I always have ambition and pleasure in playing and all opponent is a challenge! Because you don't know how he/she thinks, is in form and so on and so forth.

Ma Lin and Ma Long shows their advantage and disadvantages in this match. It looks like Ma Lin is far better than Ma Long on receiving first and first 3rd ball rally. Ma Long lost a lots of points from the misjudgement on Ma Lin's serve. However, once they get into rallying, Ma Long shows Ma Lin his superior.

No, this match was not shown at CCTV5
so there is no material about this match .....
but this game was very thrilling, especially Timo Boll - Yan An, after every single point for Boll Ma and Hao Shuai jumped from their chairs and celebrated Boll
Against Wang Hao Timo Boll lead the first set 10-6 but lost it ... -.- All in all a 3-1 for Wang Hao

Edit:
You didn't get a ticket before the match .... the last tickets were sold on the evening before ---> outsold :)

Next match from Bolls team is against the team of Wang Liqin ( I believe it's Shanghai)
Wang Liqins stats in CTTSL is very bad .....

@Michal_Z (& Rhydian) ::
Yes you're right, four screens for detailed watching is impossible (of course this wasn't my intention!)
BUT, this is a Reference Video/ A Synopsis, it transfers the whole atmosphere the high energy/quality/technique (a State-of -Art) of TT their playing.
You could catch some exciting moments of the event and then watch the specific matches
[reread my post again, I have added much more details]
In another point of view, it is also like "an interactive highlight" (because it needs some effort from you to concentrate and choose some moments) of the whole event

So Timo will play for the semi finals in the play offs! Then he will go back to Germany!

I only read this, so I dont know if its true but:
Ma Long has won 17 matches and is the second best in CTTSL after Zhang. is this right?
His compatriots won together 1 match!!!!
That's incredible
If I were Ma long I would be pissed off

I just only get the info from the cttsl website itself, http://cttsl.sports.cn/

But usually the schedule will not release earlier, seems like they will only announce few days ahead when next 4 round of match will be played. Actually, there are few issues on the website, the main one is that it is in mandarin (yeah, i know!). The other problems are those statistic results, and some of the matches' page never work properly for me :(

Or you can try to dig the info from here, although i only went to this website for once

Fang Bo sort of looks amazing to me. The amount of spin he is getting on his forehand and backhand are crazy. His footwork is amazing. With some maturity he looks like he might be one of the next greats.

Tell us, Janus, whats the real duration of this match? :)

Michal_Z

Btw go to 12:00 and watch..
That is Ma Lin´s huge weakness! He does have reverse penhold backhand, but does he really use it?
I saw him using it when he was going to spin some underspin.. but counter topspin or something like that.. never..
That is why he lost to Xu Xin ;)

Tell us, Janus, whats the real duration of this match? :)

52:19 minutes / The Short Form is not so short (15:28) because there are many slow motion repetitions and I included all, because it was an interesting match :)
# 15:28 = less than 1/3 of 52:19 and I think its ok. BTW, the high compression of time is only the one dimension of a good short form.

PS. If you want something shorter (6:19 only) watch my friend's (ttprovider) highlight video

No no, I like your short form videos, great idea! And including slow motions is also a good idea!
You are doing a great job!
I only dont like Ma Lin´s game delay, so I was interested of full duration ;)

# HAO Shuai vs XU Xin : 1-3 [(only) the last two sets in short form]

Note: The short form has made according to the original source video
(only two sets, a gap between them, maybe some sync/sound problems \\ ... BUT interesting!!)

Very interesting indeed. Something weird in it though: at 2:10 and 4:25 it says XU XIN time out. I'm assuming the 2nd was Hao Shuai's? I always enjoy Shuai's block by the way :D It is good for the final that it comes to a deciding 3rd leg. Hoping for more exciting matches tomorrow :D

Hi all, my first post here ;)

Is there any site where I can find summarized results of this league, i.e. results of single matches including players names?
I only fond sites with Chinese letters :(

Thanks,

I already found this site, but can I find there results also in a tabular form?
I only found single reports, but I would need results in a summarized format.
