Germany's Dimtirij Ovtcharov had a fantastic year in 2015, winning the European Championships and the European Games in Baku. The biggest newspapers in Germany have interviewed Dima about his career which you can read here. Yesterday on the 7th of January 2016, SPORT1 one of Facebook's biggest sports pages from Germany crowned Dimitrij Ovtcharov the best sportsman of the year (2015).

There were three awards with 10 athletes and teams elected.
Table Tennis player Dimitrij Ovtcharov finished top of the voting poll with a staggering 41% of casts voted going to the 27 year old.
Dimitrij Ovtcharov announced on his Facebook page: WOW! "Awesome! I have won the fan vote of one of the biggest German sport-pages! I am very proud and thankful for winning this award as I was able to assert myself against other very famous athletes and even a German football star! Than you very much!"
