The Japanese Dominate The Team Event At The World Junior Championships 2016!

The Team Event FINAL of the World Junior Championships took place yesterday on the 3rd December 2016. The prestigious event held in Cape Town, South Africa created history as Japan for the first time ever won both the Junior Boys and Junior Girls Team Event Titles. The only other country to ever achieve this is China... of course! Interestingly with this event China didn't even reach the final of the boys team event with silver medallist Korea Republic eliminating them in the semi finals. Full results, videos, and more below:

For the first time in World Junior Championship history Japan claim gold in both the Junior Boys and Junior Girls team event. China are of course the strongest nation in the world at table tennis and dominate the sport in most world events. The rest of the world are constantly chasing China and see them as the country to beat. This week at the World Junior Championships, Japan did just that surpassing the nation in both events! Will this trend continue as the players progress from juniors to seniors? Results below.

Junior Boys Team Event

On route to the final Japan defeated Korea DPR in the quarter finals 3-0, Chinese Taipei 3-0 and met Korea Republic in the final. Korea Republic eliminated Romania and China 3-2 in an epic affair to reach the final.

Junior Girls Team Event

On route to the final Japan defeated Romania in the quarter finals 3-1, Hong Kong 3-0 and met China in the final. China eliminated Chinese Taipei and Korea Republic 3-1 to reach the final.
