Today the opening ceremony and draw took place in Dusseldorf at the World Championships and kicked off this huge, global competition. The players, officials and ITTF representatives were all present and excited to start off preceding's.

The draw was completed today which saw the top 16 seeded men and women find out where they are placed in the draw and who they may potentially face in the rounds to come. The draw also included a discussion between ITTF officials.

The draw has a total of 96 players placed directly into the round of 128 singles for both the men and the women, with a further 32 places up for grabs for the remaining players to fill from the qualification rounds. This will take place on Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th.

From analysis of the draw and the seeding goes to plan, top seed Ma Long looks to meet Soumajit Ghosh in the round of 64, Fan Zhendong will meet Par Gerell from Sweden. The rest of the field is open and we look forward to the intense battles ahead!
