Asia secured the final decision in the contest against Europe succeeding by six matches to the four in the matches staged in the Belgian city of Mons on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th October 2010.

In front of two thousand spectators, China’s Ma Long and Hong Kong’s Tang Peng remained unbeaten to provide the backbone of Asia’s success.

Chinese Taipei’s Chuang Chih-Yuan and Korea’s Joo Se Hyuk each recorded one victory, whilst for Europe Kalinikos Kreanga of Greece posted victories in both contests.

First Meeting
Both contests saw Asia succeed by three matches to two.

In the first meeting, Chuang Chih-Yuan defeated Austria’s Chen Weixing in the opening duel with Ma Long defeating Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus and Tang Peng overcoming the host nation’s Jean-Michel Saive by the very narrowest of margins to secure Asian success.

The wins for Europe came from Kalinikos Kreanga in opposition to Korea’s Joo Se Hyuk and from Germany’s Timo Boll against Japan’s Jun Mizutani.

Second Encounter
Meanwhile, in the second contest Tang Peng defeated Chen Weixing to give Asia the lead with Joo Se Hyuk extending the advantage by overcoming Jean-Michel Saive.

Vladimir Samsonov stemmed the tide of Asian success by beating Jun Mizutani but the verdict in favour of Asia was secured with Ma Long accounting for Timo Boll.

The contest finished with Kalinikos Kreanga defeating Chuang Chih-Yuan.

Meeting in Asia
Earlier in the year at the Asian event, the Hyundai Cup, Asia had beaten Europe by six matches to five.
