What To Look Out For In 2020

The new decade is set to start off with an incredible year of table tennis. The World Tour has a sensational 12 events to look forward including 6 Platinum events in Germany, Qatar, Japan, China, Australia, Austria. Also, this year we have the Continental Cup/Top 16 competitions which always throws up some great competitive matches between fellow continental compatriots.

Of course, the main event this year will be the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. The Games will be the 9th time that table tennis has been included in the Olympics. Can the Japanese players take advantage of a home Olympics and win their first Gold medal at an Olympics? Also, take a look out for the qualification tournaments throughout the year where players will be battling for their chance to become Olympians.

Later in the year the World Team Table Tennis Championships will take place in Busan, South Korea. Followed by the Men’s and Women’s World Cups which will take place in Dusseldorf and Bangkok respectively.

Finally, the year will as usual with the World Tour Grand Finals. The best players on the tour will come together for the final showdown. The destination has yet to be confirmed. However, there is a lot of table tennis to enjoy between now and December.
