With Borussia Dusseldorf becoming European Champions League Winners on 27th May 2011 there was other matches going on. The 2nd leg of the ETTU Cup was played with Chartres facing Levallois in their second meeting.

The first leg saw Levallois beat Chartres in a 3-1 victory however on this occasion Chartres came out of no where and beat the French Champions 3-0. Chartres are the European Table Tennis Union Cup Champions!

First Match

The opening match up was between TableTennisDaily's Par Gerell vs Chuang Chih Yuan. Click here for an exclusive interview of Par Gerell by TTD. Hosts Levallois picked Chuang Chih Yuan as it would secure them a point, however it wasn't to be! Par Gerell came flying out of the blocks winning the first two sets. Determined Chuang worked hard to level the scores at 2-2. Par re focussed and maintained very strong serves and top spin attacks to win the set giving Chartres a 1-0 lead.

2nd Match

The 2nd match began with the overall score from both legs standing at 3-2 to Levallois. Chartres Gao Ning stepped into the arena to face Emannuel Lebesson. The match was very close all the way to the end. The first 2 sets were very close with each player winning 14-12. Gao made some very good attacks in the 3rd game to take a 2-1 lead. In the fourth set, Gao stepped up a gear and won the set 11-2! This meant Chartres and Levallois were levelled at 3-3 over the due course of both legs!

3rd Match

With an incredible start to Par Gerell and Gao Ning's wins, Levallois were on the back foot. The 3rd and final match up was between Levallois's Igor Rubstov vs Chartres Damien Eloi. Igor started of very well to win the first set. However after this, Damien Eloi was like a steam train. He was focussed and determined for the ETTU Cup. Eloi won the fourth set in an epic battle to win 11-9 and Chartres amazing come back from the first leg saw their hands on the ETTU Cup 2011!

So Chartres went against the odds! Sport is so un predictable! They turned around a 3-1 defincit from the first leg to bring themselves names French Champions and the ETTU Cup winners 2011!.
