Former 2004 European Top 12 Champion Michael Maze has had to unfortunately withdraw from this weeks European Top 12 due to his ongoing injury. Michael Maze developed a knee injury in 2010 and still persists with problems to this day.

Michael Maze made a comeback into table tennis last December where he participated in the European Super Cup 2011. Maze went on to win the event defeating Dimitrij Ovtcharov by 4 games to 4 in the final with scores 8:11, 8:11, 11:5, 11:6, 11:9, 8:11,11:6. However Maze seems to still be having problems with his knee.

This is the third person in less than 48 hours leading up to this spectacular European Top 12 event. Timo Boll and Patrick Buam have also withdrawn from the competition due to injuries and preperation for the World Championships and London 2012 games. For more on their withdrawal click here

The three players to replace Michael Maze, Timo Boll and Patrick Baum are Austria's Chen Weixing, Robert Gardos and Werner Schlager.
