Jun Mizutani crowned Mens Singles Champion at the Kuwait Open World Tour 2012 as he overcomes in form Ryu Seung Min by four games to one with scores 5-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-9, 11-6 on the 18th February 2012.

Ryu Seung Min won the first set in superb fashion using his dynamic forehand to his advantage. Jun Mizutani did some great forehands down the line opening up Ryu's weakness however Ryu ran away with the set 11-5.
The second set was a lot tighter, at 6-6 Ryu made two excellent serves to put himself ahead. An outstanding rally took place at 8-7 with Ryu lobbing the ball. Jun made an unforced error with the crowd going wild! Jun levelled the second set at 9-9 with his service. Both serves allowed Mizutani to attack the 3rd ball winning on both occasions.
The game now tied at 1-1 with the match very tense. Both players 'choing' and putting their fists into the air on every winning point. Jun took a 9-6 lead after a sensational rally that saw Ryu back away from the table lobbing 20 or more balls! Every shot Ryu was looking to get his forehand into play however Jun was not letting him. Jun won the set 11-7 and was now in a 2 set to 1 lead over the 2004 Olympic Champion.
What a match this game was turning into. Both players going "hammer and tongs" at each other with superb rallies with the crowd really getting involved. Again the set tied at 5-5 with both players trying to get their opponent to defend from an early attack. At 6-5 the best rally of the match took place. Ryu retrieved a wide forehand that only he could have reached! Fortunately Ryu hit a net on his last shot in the rally to level the score line to 6-6. Both players progressed and made the score 9-9 with Jun just clinching the set 11-9.
Jun Mizutani now in a 3-1 lead with an exceptional rally to start the fifth set! Jun now edging to victory at 8-4. Ryu was giving his absolute all to make a comeback however Jun was just managing to hold off the force from Ryu. Jun maintain momentum and won the set 11-6. Jun Mizutani pumped his fists into the air with excitement.
