Germany progress into the semi final stages of the World Team Championships 2012

A very dominant performance has advanced Germany into the semi final stages at the World Team Table Tennis Championships on the 30 March 2012!

Germany defeat Sweden in three straight sets and will face Japan in tomorrows semi final stages.

In the opening match Dimitrij Ovtcharov played superbly to overcome Swedish legend Jorgen Persson in three straight sets. Jorgen Persson produced an exceptional performance however it was not meant to be for Sweden. Dimitrij Ovtcharov defeated Jorgen Persson 3-0 (11-3, 13-11,11-6).

In the second match of the tie, in form Jens Lundqvist faced Timo Boll. Jens used his aggression to full advantage to win the second set, however Boll stepped up the gear in the last two sets to win 11-6 and 11-2. Timo Boll defeated Jens Lundquist of Sweden 3-1 (11-3, 11-13, 11-6, 11-2).

In the final match of the encounter was a left handed affair. Patrick Baum took no prisoners and produced a superb performance in front of his home crowd as he overcome Par Gerell in three straight sets (11-5, 11-5, 11-4)

Congratulations to Germany, they will encounter Japan in tomorrows semi finals!
