It is now over a decade ago since Korea’s Joo Se Hyuk shocked the table tennis world by reaching the final of the World Championships in Paris! Joo is a fantastic example of the power of the chopper in the modern world of table tennis however a new successor has emerged from Korea and the name goes by 'Kang Dongsoo'.

Remember the name

In the round of 32 of the Men's Singles, Kang Dongsoo fought his heart out to defeat China's formidable two wing attacking style of play, Fang Bo. Kang retrieved everything in the final game using his forehand topspin to his advantage. Dongsoo varied the spin on his backhand chop to allow him to attack with his forehand from a loose ball from Fang.

The contest went to a full seven games and was decided by the minimal three point margin in the final set (8-11,11-9,7-11,11-9,7-11,11-8,11-7).
