With Hu Limei making it very difficult for the number one seed to even reach Paris she was considered the black horse of the Chinese women’s team, however the world number one took revenge on the young player as she managed to beat her in a comfortable four sets (11-2, 11-8, 11-5, 11-2).

It was easy to see the determination that Ding Ning had to progress into the next round as she took the first set an easy 11-2, Hu Limei did begin to play better in the second set however Ding Ning seemed to be much more at ease when playing Hu Limei this time round and was on a much better form throughout the match.

After the match Ding Ning admitted to preparing herself fully for this match to ensure she would come out as the winner, meanwhile Hu Limei was quick to comment “I was very nervous today we were playing in a very big arena which im not used to unlike Ding Ning” she also mentioned how she didn’t think she would be defeated as easily as she was.
