This match was set to be interesting after the two player’s previous meet in the H.I.S. World Championships in Yokohama where Kenta Matsudaira narrowly lost out in an epic seven set match to Ma Lin on home soil in Japan.

This time however the match was to have a completely different outcome to the joy of the Japanese fans as talented Matsudaira was determined to get his revenge and reach the next round in Paris as he showed no mercy on the Chinese player.

Kenta Matsudaira was on top form as he put on a fantastic performance throughout his match against Ma Lin, it was easy to see that the Japanese player has his sights set on the finals of the championships as he overcame Ma Lin in a solid five set match (11-5, 11-7, 11-4, 12-14, 11-7).

This means that Kenta Matsudaira and Koki Niwa are now keeping the Japanese team alive fighting hard and giving their all after two of their strongest team mates Jun Mizutani and Ai Fukuhara had surprising early exits from the championships. The remaining two players will have to be on top form putting in their best performances to keep Japan in the tournament.
