The Chinese National Games is now well under way with the team event being the first to take place. Today on the 3rd September 2013, the first two matches from the quarter finals of the team event begun in the Liaoning Province of China. Zhang Jike's Shandong took on Xu Xin's Shanghai and Ma Long's Beijing took on Xu Ruifeng's Sichuan. Results below:

Men's Team Quarter-finals

Shandong 1-3 Shanghai

Zhang Jike 0:3 Wang Liqin (6:11, 9:11, 5:11)
Wu Hao 3:0 Xu Xin (12:10, 11:8, 11:7)
Kong Lingxuan 2:3 Shang Kun (11:6, 11:8, 11:3, 11:4, 11:2)
Zhang Jike 1:3 Xu Xin (3:11, 2:11, 11:4, 1:11)

Xu Xin's Shanghai stormed into the semi final stages of the games after an impressive 3-1 victory over Shandong. Former World Champion Wang Liqin swung the momentum for team Shanghai after a superb victory over the London 2012 Olympic Champion Zhang Jike. Wu Hao managed to level the scoreline, however Shang Kun and team leader Xu Xin won their next matches to secure the win for Shanghai. After the match it was noted Zhang Jike had a shoulder injury and caused him to play in bad form.

Beijing 3-0 Sichuan

Ma Long 3:1 Qiu Yike (9:11, 11:3, 11:8, 11:5)
Yan An 3:1 Wang Jianjun (14:12, 9:11, 11:9, 11:4)

World number 1 Ma Long and his team Beijing progressed into the semi finals with a 3-0 win over Sichuan. The opening match was close with a fifth set match, with defender Yingchao defeating Xu Ruifeng clinching the final game. Ma Long and Yan An both posted 3-1 victories over their opponents to secure the semi final place.

Guangdong - PLA and Hebei - Tianjin are the next two quarter final matches to take place.
