Today on the 9th September the Chinese National Games Men's Singles quarter finals took place. Ma Long met Wang Liqin, Wang Hao faced Cui Qinglei, Fan Zhendong took on Zhang Jike and Xu Xin played against Yan An. Full results below:
Men's Singles Quarter Finals
World number 1 Ma Long posted a 4-1 victory over in form Wang Liqin. Wang Liqin up to this point of the competition had not lost a single match having defeated Xu Xin, Fan Zhendong and Zhang Jike in the team event. In the second semi final Wang Hao defeated Cui Qinglei in a good battle which consisted of 6 sets. In the next match young rising super star and now sponsored by Stiga eliminated Zhang Jike the grand slam champion by 4 sets to 2. Fan still only 16 years of age will now face Xu Xin in the semi final? Can he go all the way? Zhang Jike developed a shoulder injury in the team event however still went on to play. Perhaps this had an effect on his form. In the last quarter final of the session, the crowd had an eye pleaser with Xu Xin and Yan An going to the wire! Xu Xin clinched the last set 11-7 to secure the victory and a semi final place.
