Xu Xin has been crowned the 2015 Japan Open Men’s singles champion, after overcoming Japanese opponent Maharu Yoshimura in the final. The Japanese player had played well throughout the tournament beating Shang Kun in the semifinals and taking the first set in the final match, but the Chinese player had earlier had a battle against his young team mate Fan Zhendong proved to be too strong for Yoshimara as Xu Xin managed to claim the next four sets to claim the gold (9-11, 11-2, 14-12, 11-7, 11-7).

Women's Singles

Meanwhile in the women’s event it was set to be a final between the younger Chinese players as the top seeds Ding Ning and Liu Shiwen had lost out in the previous rounds. Chen Meng and Zhu Yuling fought it out in the final with Chen Meng managing to take a 3-2 lead, however her teammate was not going to give up without a fight and fought hard to catch up in the sixth set forcing a decider, the final set saw Meng give everything she had in order to claim the gold (13-11, 6-11, 5-11, 11-4, 11-5, 6-11, 11-7.)

Men's Doubles

The men’s doubles saw Ma Long who had not had a great singles event team up with the singles champion Xu Xin, they’re opponents included their younger team mate Fan Zhendong and Shang Kun. The match was close with both partnerships giving their all however it was the powerful Chinese duo that managed to clinch the title (11-8, 13-11, 7-11, 10-12, 11-8).


Women's Doubles

The women’s doubles saw Lin Ye and Zhou Yihan from Singapore who had defeated the Chinese duo of Liu Shiwen and Ding Ning, in the final they were faced with another Chinese pairing this time of Liu Fei and Wu Yang. This time the players from Singapore were not successful as the Chinese were able to claim yet another gold medal (11-6, 7-11, 11-9, 11-5).
