The starting line up for the German and Swedish National Team has changed at the upcoming World Team Classic 2013 which will be held in the Chinese city of Guangzhou from Thursday 28th to Sunday 31st March.

Germany's strongest duo of Timo Boll and Dimitrij Ovtcharov have both withdrawn, including the Swedish number 1 Par Gerell. Without doubt, these withdrawals effect Europe's chance in winning a medal.

The German team now will be made up of Bastian Steger, Patrick Baum and Patrick Franziska. Par Gerell of Sweden has been replaced by Fabian Akerström alongside Jens Lundqvist, Kristian Karlsson and Mattias Karlsson.

TableTennisDaily will cover the World Team Classic, with the discussion already in place here. China lead the TableTennisDaily voting poll by 109 votes, to Germany's 6.

is it only my feeling or did Boll withdraw from or did not even sign up for most of the major tournaments in the last 2 years? Its annoying.

It seems that Timo's forehand looping style (which is his primary strength) puts a lot of stress on his back and shoulder. As he is older now, it is probably wiser to play less tournaments to prevent injury.
