Deserving winners. They both played great. Harimoto played well, but he still has to figure out how to impose his offense better against good offensive players rather than rely on his counter punching style. I feel that because he and Togami are on the same team, Togami is not as bothered by Harimoto's qualities with game reading and ball placement.

This is the second Japan Table Tennis Championships win for Togami. He struggled in international competitions last year, I hope he can improve. Shinozuka looked more dangerous last year in the few tournaments he played. It's a pity only one of them can play singles in Paris, imho they should change it two three singles spots in order to improve the quality of the tournament but this is another topic.

@mrk for the team competitions at the Olympics, its likely it will be HARIMOTO + TOGAMI + SHINOZUKA unless there are injuries

to note, HARIMOTO has won only this competition once in senior, in 2018, not even aged 15. it was thought at the time he would break MIZUTANI's record number of victories (9 at the time, 10 since as he won in 2019) but that objective seems much more elusive now... what MIZUTANI achieved in this competition is incredible.. (actually MIZUTANI arrived 13 times in a ROW in the final... lost 3 times only, to HARIMOTO, NIWA and YOSHIMURA). Ai FUKUHARA was an immensely popular player but she won 'only' twice in senior.

All Japan Table Tennis Championships
— the annual Japanese National Table Tennis Championship held (since 1935) Japan Table Tennis Association in 7 categories: men's and women's singles, men's. women's and mixed doubles, men's and women's junior singles. In recent years, the tournament is held annually at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in January of each year to determine the best table tennis player in Japan for the year.
