  1. WTT Contender Tunis 2025 Apr 22-27

Even with the gameline at 4-1, this was an incredibly compelling and tense match between the two (save for Game 2 obviously). Miwa winning 4 close games that went to 9-9 or deuce is an amazingly encouraging quality for her mindset. It's one of those things that separate the top Chinese players...
  2. WTT Contender Tunis 2025 Apr 22-27

Even though Lind can be pretty obnoxious some of the times, I can't help but be entertained by his play style. Some fun exhibition style points in that one.
  3. WTT Contender Tunis 2025 Apr 22-27

Frazier Riley can drop some real gems sometimes. Just now he called Hayata's movement "flea-like" which is both accurate and hilarious.
  4. WTT Contender Tunis 2025 Apr 22-27

That Wan/Winter pairing is pretty interesting. Almost beat Odo/Yokoi if it weren't for some amazing plays from Yokoi in the decider. Winter is definitely carrying Wan. Not just playing better but giving her words of enccouragement along the way. With some improvement on Wan's part their short...
  5. WTT Contender Tunis 2025 Apr 22-27

Ankur Bhattacharjee. Indian talent was able to beat Sung Yang 3-1. And that's not the most incredible thing. He was sending back Yang's chops with BACKHAND loops and crazy loopkills! Never seen anything like this. You guys gotta go watch it. Qualifying Day 1 / Table 1 / Session 1
  6. Koki Niwa has been referred to prosecutors

I think he's just retired from WTT/international play. TT players are definitely underpaid, but I'm guessing he gets paid in sponsorships for representing Victas along with other brands while he competes in local events or for T.League. So in that sense he would be earning a living being Koki...
  7. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Was able to find a Brazilian commentary version of Hugo's championship point. Historic moment in TT deserves a more exciting call then what we got with the ITTF English broadcast.
  8. Koki Niwa has been referred to prosecutors

I wouldn't feel too bad for him if he made more money off betting than he would've made in 6 months of TT earnings. Considering that only 3 to 5% of sports bettors are profitable in the long run, it's pretty safe to assume that he didn't though. Very likely he got double whammy of losing money...
  9. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Doesn't get better than a rally like that at match point in game 7 for the biggest upset of the tournament. Hugo even snuck in a two handed BH in there lol. After so many almost upsets this tournament, it kinda felt like we'd get another good performance in a loss. Made this win more surprising.
  10. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Why would you suggest I was looking for a sinister reason? All the reasons I suggested were valid 'fan' reasons to support her. I'm just wondering if anyone who follows fan support had any insight. You saying 'they like what they like' doesn't really add anything to the conversation.
  11. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Hugo with a huge win! Good to see him finally playing his strongest game when it counts deep in a tournament. Harimoto looked to have some terrible body language and attitude that match in particular. Wonder what was going on with him.
  12. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Yeah, they were the bizarre names referenced in the translated interviews zeio posted lol I'm wondering now if they were just bad translations or if Chinese fans really call the Harimotos 'Small Carton' and 'Big Carton'
  13. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

I can understand that CNT might prefer KM to Fish, with Silver Sha getting a bit older, and having to deal with Small Carton who will get better in the next few years. But I can imagine that the fangirl support is coming from reasons that aren't purely to do with the actual sport.
  14. I have joined the long pimple people

I never knew table tennis blades were made in Haiti.
  15. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Can anyone explain why the SYS/WCQ fangirls have seemingly taken to supporting Kuai Man over all the other Chinese women? Is it just because of the 'Little Buddha' aesthetic? Or is she some sort of online personality outside of her play? On the table, she appears to be the most vanilla of...
  16. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

After getting a pleasant surprise with the new WTT announcer the past couple of events, the difference with the announcing this time is really stark.
  17. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

So close. Had a match point even. Ballsy of WCQ to do a fast long serve with his event life on the line. WCQ not looking as dominant as he has before, especially when on serve. But, he's shown more resilience in tough situations, and maybe that's a more important quality to have in order to...
  18. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Odo really needed to take a time out in that 5th game. Was up 10-6, then let Ito rattle off the next 6 points in a row. Needed to be stopped after 3 or at the very worst 4. Youth with no coaches present and this type of stuff happens.
  19. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Really great match between Truls and Gauzy with some of the best rallies of the entire event. Gauzy may not have too many titles under his belt, but he's going to have a very long career highlight reel and he seems to be adding to it at an increasing pace lately.
  20. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Thoroughly enjoyable match to watch. Some of those points were downright artistic with Diaz able to send back everything but Mima's most powerful smashes. Both girls demonstrated great feel for the ball and that led to some cool rallies with unothordox stuff mixed in. There was a point...
